Meet Nate Thompson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Nate Thompson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Nate, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Purpose is a very difficult to acquire, finely tuned machine. The minute you think you have it, you may find that you don’t. The minute you think you don’t, you may find that you have it.

You also have to put in effort on your end to fulfill and maintain that purpose. It doesn’t stay naturally, forever.

In life, you also get many purposes. While you’re slacking on one, you are fulfilling the other.

When it comes to my career, I feel like I’ve found a purpose that’s resonated closely to my inner ambitions and interests as an individual. This was achievable by self-reflecting and realizing what I wanted out of this experience called Life.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Nate Thompson, I’m a Horror Filmmaker and Business Entrepreneur. While I may own and operate many different brands and titles, one of my biggest projects has been The Michigan Museum of Horror in Monroe, Michigan. I am the Owner and Curator at this Museum as it features many different exhibits such as Real Human Skulls, Skeletons, Coffins, True Crime Artifacts, Horror Movie Memorabilia, and a ton more!

We are also behind The Michigan Oddities & Horror Fest, a yearly Horror Convention divulging in the most weird and unusual Vendors and Artists known to man. As well as The Michigan Tattoo Convention,

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Not Listening to People Tell You That Your Idea Won’t Work

-This one is the biggest one. You have to get used to people telling you that your idea won’t work. Sometimes, it’s even the people closest to you that you care about the most. If your Gut is telling you to do it, there’s a reason.

2. Success isn’t a Measure of Who’s Better, but a Measure of Longevity

3. Reinvest, Reinvest, Reinvest

– A New Boat is cool, but you know what’s even cooler? Opening up Multiple Business Locations in Different States and creating Generational Wealth for you and your family.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
The number one challenge is myself! I am always thinking we could be better, or push harder.
