Hi Drayghun, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic developed from since I was in my teens. To help support the family I took up work at the age of 14. Working at an early age helped immensely in the years going forward. They say it takes 21-30 days to make or break a habit and having worked for years since 14 this developed the habit of being consistent in working to help support the family.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My focus professionally is on my brand “Curio Giorgio” I own and maintain an umbrella entertainment company. The name Curio means “Rare” and the name Giorgio stems from Italy. In english the name Giorgio translates to George. George means “hardworker, creator, developer, tiller of the land.” To sum up the name, Curio Giorgio means “Rare Creativity” Whether I am creating music, artwork, fashion, literature, music videos, etc., all of the creations are rare. I am encouraging anyone to stand out, be different, unique, be rare. What I feel is so exciting about Curio Giorgio is the authenticity of the brand. If you desire to listen to the music, it’s authentic. If you desire to purchase a piece of art, it’s authentic. If you desire to read the literature, it’s authentic and real to life. I believe the world is missing so much authenticity because the majority desires to conform to fit in. My brand is here to encourage originality through action not merely just words. I’m also excited about an expansion concerning my book “Pensieri Rossi: Red Thoughts” this is a collection of uplifting words of encouragement towards whatever obstacles one may face in life. I believe we are here to help each other and oftentimes we go through situations to help others get through. There is so much to do however I absolutely believe in the flow of life and taking your time if you want what you are creating to be great and last throughout time. The foundation is strong and in place and now we are building towards a better and brighter future for all. One last point to make is, the purpose and intention of Curio Giorgio is to use the gifts given towards acts of service. This, in my opinion, is honest authentic living.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The one quality that has been most impactful on my journey has been patience. My advice on how to improve one’s patience is, when you’re presented with a situation that’s testing you, you either lose your cool or you maintain it. If you lose your cool, don’t be so hard on yourself. Recalibrate and go at it again. The more you are consistent in the gym the more your muscles grow and the more you lose weight. This is the same concerning patience. This quality is absolutely important and will take you far in life personally and professionally.
The one skill that has been impactful on my journey has been mixing and mastering music. More than often being a business owner you have to learn how to expand and do things on your own. I desired to create without being held back or waiting on another to complete my projects so I decided to enroll in engineering school to upgrade my skills. I am a firm believer that if another knows how to do what you’re attempting better and they’re willing to assist you, allow them. I have been mixing and mastering my music for years until I had to learn how to delegate. Now I am grateful I have a producer/engineer who does incredible work. Finding an engineer who is dedicated and gets the work done is paramount. Having this, only occurred because I was patient. Do you see how this all ties in together?
The area of knowledge that has been incredibly transformative has been being able to navigate the technological space of the world. The marketing, the branding, the designing. When it comes to entertainment, branding and marketing is everything. Having this knowledge is so important because you can have the greatest product on earth but if it’s not branded correctly, who’s going to buy? I still have a ways to go because marketing, branding and design encompasses so much but just having the basics, can take you far within your career. Always remember though, there’s always room to learn and improve. So when you have the opportunity to do so, do so.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I pray and I meditate. When I have the opportunity, I also go into nature to ground myself. Deep breathing and affirmations have been very helpful during moments of intense stress. My personal advice to alleviate stress is to remember this, “How you start your day will be how you end your day” Sure things will come up but if you start your day in gratitude and with a good meditation, affirmations and breathing you’ll be surprised how situations that would usually trigger you, loses it’s power over you. Consistency is key. The key is consistency. Being consistent is key. One more piece of advice that you can actually use as a great strategy is to listen to frequencies while you sleep. Frequencies that calm and soothe. I suggest 432Hz (Frequency of gratitude) and 528Hz (Frequency of love) Again, be consistent, that is the key.
