Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to NIKISHA REAGAN. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
NIKISHA, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
First, I prayed because I needed to know that whatever God was doing in my life it wasn’t by mistake. I had to come to understand that my life was changing rapidly and for my greater good. I had to learn to embrace what was happening and accept that I deserved everything that was a result of me working and planning and planting and sowing. Those results were my results based off what I did. So the reward was truly my reward and I had no reason to feel as though it wasn’t suppose to be mine. I wasn’t suppose to have 6 figures in my account or multi-million dollar companies doing business with me. No! I was, I did, I am because I set the tone, the stage and I’m doing the work. Moral of the story I realized that I do deserve my upgraded life because God said so.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the middle-woman between shipping companies and carrier companies (aka) truck drivers. My job is to orchestrate the transport by finding a carrier company who is in compliance with the FMCSA to haul the load. In return I make a profit from each load transported. The thing that I find special about what I do is, I’m a black woman maneuvering in a male dominant industry which is rare. I want women and men across the globe to know that this industry need people like you. If you are stuck at a dead end job or are ready to do something different in your life on your own terms. Then this is the industry you need to pursue. The transportation industry is a 700 billion dollar industry everything is moved by truck. It may have come via train, plane, or ship but it was transported by truck to get to consumers like you and I. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The skill that was most impactful for me is most people don’t know that I have a hidden talent and that talent is drawing. I started drawing as a kid and drawing broaden my imagination which also lead to me being very creative. Therefore, I have developed a skill to create and design my business marketing ideas and content. So in the early stages of my business building I didn’t have funds to purchase expensive marketing material. But I had enough creativity to put somethings together that would help me shine during my start up. My advice to others would be to think ahead when pursuing your new journey as a business owner. Think about how you plan to obtain clients and keep them interested in you. I believe that it is all in how your business look and how well you take care and serve your clients.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
They taught me how to stay true to myself, remain grounded, believe in God and know that everything is not to be challenged. Do more listening than speaking and understand that saying you’re humble and actually being humble are two different things.
