Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nikki Burnett, MS CNTP MNT. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Nikki, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Life has an intriguing way of guiding us through challenges that ultimately shape our path. For me, a relentless two-year headache became the impetus for transformation. This journey led me to discover a purpose I never anticipated – one centered around health, nutrition, and the potential to create a better future for generations to come.
Unyielding pain left me feeling helpless and frustrated. Everyone had the “right” answers but not the right answer for me. The lack of answers intensified my desperation and I decided to take matters into my own hands.
I became my own health detective, collecting puzzle pieces of information that would eventually form a complete picture of my health. Through this journey, I fell in love with nutrition and how it can have such a huge impact on health. I continued to study, then finally decided to take my learning to the next level and enroll in nutrition school.
This was a turning point – a beginning to seeing food not just as daily meals, but a language that communicates directly with our cells and DNA. Every meal, every choice, became an opportunity to communicate a specific message to my body.
The revelation that genes aren’t destiny but rather dynamic entities influenced by lifestyle choices was eye-opening. I explored the delicate dance between genetics and lifestyle, discovering that daily decisions have the power to shape genetic expression. The concept of epigenetics – the idea that lifestyle influences gene activity – further solidified my understanding of the profound impact of choices on health outcomes.
My purpose came into sharp focus. My goal is to empower others to take charge of their health destinies. I found in practice that many women suffering from symptoms also wanted to try to get pregnant at some point but needed to address their health issues first. So I’ve expanded my practice to include preconception planning, working with women and couples, guiding them toward understanding their potential to create a healthy body, healthy pregnancies, and a legacy of health that will impact many generations to come.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Historically, in my practice, I see lots of autoimmune conditions and GI dysfunction, as well as weight management, blood sugar management, cardiovascular health, etc.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back at my own journey, I’ve identified three pivotal qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that have been instrumental in shaping my path and achieving meaningful progress.
1. Identifying the Root Cause of Dysfunction with Functional Lab Testing
It’s essential to understand the root causes of any dysfunction. Functional lab testing has been a game-changer. This approach goes beyond surface-level analysis, providing deep insights into the underlying issues. This unlocks a holistic approach to problem-solving, addressing the core issues rather than merely covering up symptoms. Remember, understanding the ‘why’ is often the key to effective solutions.
2. The Value of Coaching
One of the most impactful investments I made was in coaching. This decision propelled my business to new heights and catalyzed my personal growth. The guidance of a coach can offer unparalleled insights, accelerate your development, and keep you accountable. Investing in coaching is, in essence, an investment in yourself. It’s an acknowledgment that you’re worth the effort, and it can fast-track your journey in ways you might not have imagined. Tailored advice and fresh perspectives from a coach can be the difference between stumbling and soaring.
3. Delegation
We all have strengths, but it’s equally important to recognize our limitations. Delegation is a strategic move that can boost efficiency, creativity, and overall effectiveness. Early in my journey, I discovered the power of letting go of tasks that I wasn’t proficient in. By delegating these to those with the necessary skills, I can focus on what truly matters.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always seeking opportunities to collaborate with fellow practitioners, whether it’s participating in workshops, co-authoring written works, or synergizing efforts on social media campaigns, I firmly believe that collaborative efforts can yield innovative outcomes that benefit all parties involved.
My aim is to foster an environment of knowledge exchange, skill enhancement, and mutual growth. I’m particularly interested in opportunities that align with nutrition, lifestyle, chronic conditions such as autoimmune and GI dysfunction, and preconception planning.
