Meet Nikki Santigati

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nikki Santigati. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Nikki, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
How did I find my purpose? Honestly, through intense introspection of my life and one question. What does happiness to look like to me? The answer to this question may vary from person to person. Much like the definition of success, happiness looks different to each one of us. For me this question was never put in front of me. I had to be the one to ask this of myself. To truly sit with this perplex yet very simple question. To me happiness looks like financial freedom, a house designed all out of storage containers with enough land to have a small farm, and a successful business all of my own. So, I set out to accomplish these goals. I have learned so much on this journey and am still working towards these goals. But, at least I know that what I am working towards is what is best for me and my life. I hope to inspire others to ask themselves the same question.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Part of my happiness plan was to launch my own small business. During my studies I was able to build a business plan, and develop my concept. In January of 2021 I launched Copper Crescent Botanicals in the public market. I am an herbalist whose main focus of study is plants and our largest organ our skin. Weaving in a holistic approach to self care.

I have always suffered from skin conditions like eczema, hives, and eventually a full body allergic reaction to commercialized soaps, detergents, and fragrances. These experiences birthed Copper Crescent Botanicals, a brand built to provide simple yet luxurious skin care + home care + self care honoring the ebb & flow of your daily routines.

Copper Crescent Botanicals is known for our facial toners, and sweet orange facial oil, but with a wide range of products there is something for everyone. After winning a micro grant Copper Crescent was able to launch new products as well a fully curated men’s skin care line.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1. Customer service and public speaking: this skill is so vital when you have a product or service that is made for the people. Through public speaking courses in college and work experience I was able to develop my customer service and public speaking skills. For people looking to develop these skills further taking classes or joining groups such as toastmasters can aid you in growing these vital skills. I want people to know that it is ok to take your time and learn your comfortability levels when it comes to public speaking and customer service. For me I have always wanted to be in the spot light so being on camera comes very naturally to me, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t still get nervous. I am always continuously learning how to be better develop these skills.

2. Knowledge of business: Working for someone and for yourself are two totally different things. I mean I knew I was gonna have to wear many hats but I severely underestimated how many hats I would being juggling. I was lucky enough to have taken some basic business courses throughout my studies. But, even after I started my business there were things that were just outside of my scope. So, I set out to find help in the areas I knew I was struggling in. I was able to connect with an organization called SCORE who connected me with a business mentor, and free classes to help me in areas I needed to grow in. In addition to SCORE I also utilized Facebook events, and networking opportunities to connect me with people who could be resources for me and my small business. My determination and knowledge of my own capabilities drove me to find other ways to grow the skills I needed to either learn or outsource. Never be afraid to ask for help.

3. The ability to believe in yourself: During this whole adventure I have had to be my biggest cheerleader. I am so lucky to have so many of my friends and family to support me while I grow my dreams. But, when the chips are down and you are left contemplating what you are doing with your life and business. This is when that unwavering faith and belief in yourself, that core feeling of knowing you can and will succeed one day will drive you to keep pushing forward. It will help you pivot and shift as your business is fluid being that you must flow with. Only you will know what is right for you.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Oh my goodness what a stellar question! I love collaborations, they are such a fun way to partner with so many different creatives. I have had the pleasure of hosting an Instagram live with my @canaryinthecosmos were we discussed daily routines, skin care, and tarot. I also was interviewed by a creative business coach @easilymebytammys on an Instagram live which was fun and super spontaneous as I was literally given no prep time with questions which was a learning experience. I am looking to collaborate with people who are interested in discussing skin care, self care, business, herbalism, life. If you are interested in collaborating please connect with me on Instagram @coppercrescent or via email at [email protected]

In addition to collaborations Copper Crescent Botanicals is now open for wholesale ordering. Our products are currently in Buckaroo Flower Co at the Pemberton in Downtown Phoenix. I hope to connect with our businesses who are interested in carrying handmade skin care + home care + self care products. If you are interested in wholesale please connect with me on Instagram @coppercrescent or via email at [email protected]
