Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Nikki Smith. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Nikki, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
At the age of 2 years old, I started my journey towards discovering my passion for transformation and style. Even at such a young age, I exhibited an innate curiosity and fascination with appearances and personal presentation.
Over the years I would spend hours picking out different outfits and remixing them to see how many looks I could come up with.. I lived with my Aunt and she was very glamorous I loved her style and how she carefully selected her combinations of colors and textures. They caught my eye and intrigued me so much so that I played mall and fashion shows with my cousin Christie,
Over time, my passion for transformation extended beyond just dressing up. I developed an astute eye for details, noticing how a small change in hairstyle or a pop of color could completely transform someone’s appearance and boost their confidence.
I truly understood the importance of image at the 20 when I received my 1st corporate job. I knew I wasn’t qualified or had the most experience, however I was told by the hiring manager that I was given the opportunity because I had the look. That one opportunity opened doors for my future and my success as a Sales Executive,
As you grew older, my interest in transformation expanded beyond myself, as I started offering suggestions and styling advice to friends and family. Your comments were always constructive and offered with a genuine desire to help others feel their best
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
As an image coach, author, and public speaker, I specialize in helping individuals discover and express their authentic personal style. My expertise lies in assisting people in building a wardrobe that reflects their unique personality, boosts their confidence, and aligns with their goals.
In my book “Why Do I Have a Closet Full of Clothes with Nothing to Wear,” I delve into the common challenges and dilemmas many people face when it comes to their wardrobe. I offer practical tips, insights, and exercises to help readers understand their personal style preferences, streamline their closets, and make intentional fashion choices. The book aims to empower readers to develop a more conscious and fulfilling relationship with their clothing.
One of the most rewarding aspects of being an image coach, author, and public speaker is witnessing the transformative impact that understanding and embracing personal style can have on individuals. It is incredibly exciting to see someone gain confidence and a renewed sense of self through the process of discovering their true style identity and optimizing their wardrobe.
Looking forward, I am excited to expand my services by offering online courses and resources to reach a wider audience. I believe that everyone deserves to feel confident and empowered in their appearance, and I am committed to helping individuals achieve that through my work as an image coach, author, and public speaker.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
For individuals who are early in their journey as an image coach, author, or public speaker, I have a few pieces of advice to help them develop and improve in their chosen field:
1. Gain knowledge and expertise: Continuously educate yourself about your field of interest. Stay updated on the latest trends, techniques, and best practices. Read books, attend workshops and conferences, and connect with experienced professionals in your industry. Building a strong foundation of knowledge will help you provide valuable insights and guidance to your clients or readers.
2. Practice and hone your skills: Just like any other profession, practice is crucial. Whether it’s conducting mock coaching sessions, writing regularly, or practicing your speaking skills, dedicate time to refine your abilities. The more you practice, the more comfortable and confident you will become in your role.
3. Specialize and find your niche: Identify a specific area within your field that you are passionate about, and focus on becoming an expert in that niche. By specializing, you can differentiate yourself from others and position yourself as an authority in your chosen area. This will attract clients, readers, or event organizers who are specifically seeking out your expertise.
4.. Build a strong network: Networking is crucial for professional growth. Connect with other professionals in your field through social media platforms, forums, industry events, or local meetups. Engage in conversations, collaborate with others, and seek opportunities for mentorship or partnership. Building a strong network not only expands your knowledge but also opens doors for potential collaborations and new opportunities.
