Meet Nile Yang

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Nile Yang. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Nile below.

Nile, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
○ I like to keep my creativity alive by allowing myself flexibility, grace, and the space to feel and grow through life’s changing waves. I remind myself what it is that I truly want and what it means to me, as often as I need to. I look for inspiration in the things that fill me with happiness and love. I try my best to constantly surround myself with people, places, and things that inspire me. Keeping myself grounded and being in nature is a big one for me. I also often find things in my everyday life that light up that spark and make me feel grateful for the life I’m living and how far I’ve come. I recently moved into a van too which has been a very exciting challenge. Being able to visit new places and bring my art closer to more people fills me with so much joy and inspiration. Another thing that helps me a lot is having the opportunity to make custom pieces, I love bringing people in on the creative process and inviting them to be part of making something they’ll cherish as much as I do.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’ve been focusing on my lifestyle brand Bohême X Nile Yang, mostly known for my jewelry design work, and doing Pop-Ups wherever I’m invited. Local breweries and small businesses have welcomed me, and its been the most beautiful collaboration. Connecting with great people, making custom pieces, and partnering with awesome small businesses has been incredibly special. I’ve also been working on my photography and modeling whenever inspiration strikes. This next year, I’m most excited about bringing my art closer to more people and making art in new places, now that I’m on the road. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to share my work with more businesses, exploring other cities, and documenting my journey along the way. I invite people to support my art via Ko-Fi, reach out to place an order or ask about customs, and stay tuned to my Instagram stories to find out what’s new and where I’ll be doing my next Pop-Up.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Dreaming, stubbornness, and perseverance are probably the qualities that have been the most impactful in my journey. I’m not sure about giving advice, but I’d say be stubborn about your dreams and don’t give up. Being a full time artist is probably the scariest and hardest thing I’ve ever done, but also the most fulfilling. The only way I’ve gotten anywhere at all has been by going against the grain and doing it scared. No matter how much people tell me not to or how uncertain I am about the outcome. Just keep taking those leaps of faith and doing your best with the resources you have. Don’t forget to give yourself love and grace every step of the way, and find gratitude for how far you’ve come.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes! From craft breweries, wineries, cool shops and restaurants, to apartment complexes, retirement homes, private parties, and pretty much everything in between! I’m always looking for cool people and small businesses to collaborate with, and happy to go wherever I’m invited. Now that I’m on the road full time, I plan to travel along the East of the United States this coming year, and eventually the entire country. I’m really looking forward to visiting new places, and bringing my art closer to more people. I invite small businesses, organizations, and events to reach out to me via email or Instagram for Pop-Ups and workshops. I’m very excited to explore different places in this journey and share my art with all the wonderful people and awesome businesses along the way.
