Meet Noemi Fernandez

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Noemi Fernandez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Noemi below.

Hi Noemi, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I developed my confidence and self-esteem by being deeply devoted to my self-discovery and personal growth journey. I’ve invested significant time and money processing, independently and with a therapist, my thoughts. I’ve spent a lot of time writing my thoughts and feeling my feelings. Writing has been an important tool in being able to understand myself and everything that goes with that (needs, values, boundaries, identity). I learned about myself, learned to accept and nurture all my weirdness (we’re all a little strange!). I began prioritizing my own well-being and became my own greatest nurturer and cheerleader. Confidence followed naturally.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a licensed clinical social worker based in California and also licensed to practice in Colorado and Texas. In addition to offering therapy for individual adults, I also offer psychological evaluations for immigration cases such as Extreme Hardship and VAWA.

I founded Stillness Therapy®, my 100% virtual mental health private practice, in late June of 2021. It was important for me to create my business guided by my core values such as acceptance, curiosity, duality, fluidity, openness, social justice, transparency, and the concept of stillness as a healing practice. I’m most passionate about empowering women, LGBT+/queer individuals, and adult children of immigrants, who have felt misunderstood or mistreated, develop a solidified sense of self and feel confident.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My most impactful qualities are 1) curiosity and 2) persistence. My curiosity strikes the match and my persistence sees it through to the very end, regardless of any challenges. My curiosity, persistence, dedication and devotion to myself, my practice, and my relationships helps me live my purpose. Your job is to figure out what qualities bring out your devotion. They might be different from mine and that’s okay. Everyone has their own unique qualities that make sense for their journey and their life story.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
Great question! My ideal therapy client is someone who is curious, open, and ready to initiate changes that align their actions with their desires, needs, and values. There is a certain eagerness they feel, even if they may feel some ambivalence, too. I love working with queer people and women who are wanting to prioritize self-reflection and personal growth. They are wanting to learn more about themselves, their relationships and the world we live in. My ideal client is someone who is dedicated to the therapeutic process.
