We recently connected with Onexs Gardner and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Onexs, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic is rooted in passion and a genuine love for what I do. When I first started exploring photography and content creation, I didn’t have formal training, so I taught myself through YouTube tutorials and a lot of trial and error. That process required patience, determination, and a willingness to embrace challenges.
I also think my work ethic comes from my desire to create something meaningful. Whether I’m styling a shoot, developing content, or sharing my perspective, I’m always thinking about how it can inspire or connect with others. It’s that purpose that keeps me disciplined and motivated
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Thank you for the opportunity to share my story! I’m Onex’s Gardner, and my journey has been all about turning my passion for creativity into a thriving career. I’m a content creator, influencer, and founder of [insert brand or business name if applicable], where I focus on blending storytelling with visually compelling concepts. Whether it’s through fashion-forward styling, photography, or digital content, I aim to create work that resonates, inspires, and leaves a lasting impression.
What excites me the most about my work is the ability to connect with people on a deeper level. I believe creativity is a universal language, and I love using it to tell stories that uplift and empower others.
Looking ahead, I’m focused on expanding my business and building a dynamic team. I’m currently seeking a talented graphic designer, music video director, and music producer to collaborate on new projects. In 2025, we’ll also be launching an updated website showcasing all our new services, which will reflect the growth and evolution of what we offer.
I’m thrilled about what’s next and can’t wait to continue growing, innovating, and connecting with amazing people along the way.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three qualities and skills that have been most impactful in my journey are adaptability, self-learning, and storytelling.
Adaptability: The creative industry is constantly evolving, and being able to pivot and embrace change has been crucial. Whether it’s learning new platforms, experimenting with trends, or overcoming challenges, adaptability allows you to grow while staying authentic. For anyone starting out, I’d recommend staying curious and open to trying new things—you never know what could inspire your next big idea.
Self-Learning: When I started, I didn’t have formal training in photography or content creation, so I taught myself through YouTube tutorials and hands-on experience. This ability to independently learn and improve has shaped my confidence and skills. My advice is simple: dive in, take small steps every day, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes—they’re a part of the process.
Storytelling: At the core of my work is the art of storytelling. Whether it’s a photo, a caption, or a project, I aim to create something that connects with people emotionally. For those early in their journey, I’d say focus on your unique perspective and use it to tell stories that feel true to you. Authenticity is what sets you apart.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I’m overwhelmed, I’ve learned to step back and give myself space to breathe. It’s so easy to get caught up in the hustle, but I’ve realized that pushing through without pausing often leads to burnout. Instead, I focus on grounding myself and regaining clarity.
One strategy that works for me is breaking things down into smaller, manageable tasks. When everything feels like ‘too much,’ prioritizing and tackling one thing at a time helps me regain control.
I also make time for self-care—whether it’s taking a walk, journaling, or simply disconnecting for a while. These moments of rest recharge my creativity and remind me that it’s okay to pause.
For anyone feeling overwhelmed, my advice is to listen to yourself. It’s important to recognize when you need a break and to give yourself permission to take it. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help or delegate if you can—it’s a sign of strength, not weakness. Overcoming overwhelm is as much about mindset as it is about action
