Meet Paige Nethers

We recently connected with Paige Nethers and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Paige, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
Overcoming imposter syndrome in my career as an artist has been a deeply personal journey marked by perseverance and self-discovery. I ventured into the world of entrepreneurship nine years ago while expecting my first child, aiming to balance my passion for art with the joys of motherhood. Initially, I grappled with doubts about my talent and worthiness in the competitive landscape of the wedding industry. There were already so many great stationers and I wasn’t totally sure what made me stand out. However, through relentless practice and dedication, I gradually cultivated my skills, transforming mistakes into lessons and setbacks into opportunities for growth. It was in the last three years that I truly found my artistic voice, mastering a style that is uniquely mine—a blend of realism with soft watercolors that captures love stories in all their forms. Along this journey, I realized that I didn’t need to conform to the standards of my competitors; my distinct approach stood out on its own, resonating deeply with clients seeking heartfelt and personalized artwork along with great customer service.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My journey as a watercolor artist has lead me to being known for luxury wedding crests, invitations, signage, and paper goods that capture the essence of love stories. What excites me most about my craft is the opportunity to infuse each piece with personal touches and sometimes even punny elements that reflect the uniqueness of every couple. Known for my intricate pet and house portraits as well as elegant calligraphy, my work has become synonymous with heartfelt and personalized celebrations. With nearly a decade of experience in the wedding industry, I’ve honed my skills and expanded into new territories, including managing select social media accounts and offering marketing services to help brands grow their marketing presence. I’m excited to leverage the knowledge I’ve gained in growing my own brand to support others on their journey to success. As I continue to evolve and expand my offerings, I’m grateful for the opportunity to connect with clients and create meaningful memories that last a lifetime.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, three qualities that have been instrumental in my success are interpersonal skills, creativity and aesthetic sense, and determination. My ability to connect with clients on a personal level and provide exceptional service has fostered strong relationships and valuable referrals. Additionally, my eye for design has allowed me to create captivating artwork and effectively market my services. My determination as a mompreneur has been a driving force, motivating me to persevere through challenges and balance career aspirations with family commitments. For those starting out, I highly recommend attending networking events to form relationships in your industry! So much of business is about knowing the right people, and their first impression of you will often be a lasting one. So be kind! I also would advise new entrepreneurs to stay humble and always be open to learning from others as well as from your own mistakes. You will undoubtedly make them, but it’s how you respond to them that makes the difference.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The most influential figure in my journey of overcoming challenges and building essential skills has undoubtedly been my therapist. I started going for personal reasons, but ended up gaining confidence and skills in all aspects of my life and career! Her guidance and support have been invaluable in helping me gain confidence and confront limiting beliefs that once held me back. I vividly recall expressing doubts about my business’s potential to reach a certain income threshold, believing it was beyond my grasp. Through therapy, I learned to challenge these self-imposed limitations and embrace new possibilities. With her encouragement, I transcended my insecurities and soared to new heights in my career as an artist and entrepreneur. Their insights and strategies have equipped me with the resilience and mindset needed to navigate the complexities of business and personal growth, ultimately contributing to my success.
