Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Patrick Hodge. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Patrick, thank you so much for making time for us today. Let’s jump right into a question so many in our community are looking for answers to – how to overcome creativity blocks, writer’s block, etc. We’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you might have.
I naturally just try not to force myself to be creative in that moment because I feel as though every creative has struggled with trying to overcome that creative block but instead just let it happen naturally and don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My main job at Katastrophy Global is to keep up with everything from marketing, drawing out designs, hand sewing the clothes, and etc. I currently love my job and I’ve been doing it since I was 16 years old and now I’m 23 years old. I feel as though this is just really important for my journey as a fashion designer. The most exciting part about my job is probably creating something that I’ve never seen anyone do before. I want people to know that the meaning behind Katastrophy Global is taking something and making it your own and I want to continue to spread that message. I am dropping my “Pain Causes Creativity “ collection in 2024!which is dedicated to the famous Jean-Michael Basquiat.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey would be proactiveness, dedication, and creativity. I always want people to know that growing up I wasn’t surrounded by that much creativity only graffiti paintings and cartoons so I didn’t have much growing up as a child but that never stopped me from creating that environment around me that I may not have had much growth up in a creative sense but I can turn nothing into something. My advice to anyone on their journey is to never stop being yourself because people will always love your authentic self rather than a fake persona that you try to portray.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
I love this question because this has been something that I have struggled with for years. When I get the feeling of being overwhelmed I tend to journal my thoughts and I find healthy solutions as to why I may feel overwhelmed. I also enjoy reading from time to time just to set my mind at ease.
