We recently connected with Patti Reim and have shared our conversation below.
Patti , so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I overcame imposter syndrome by listening to the people around me rather the the inner critic. This took time and practice. I also allowed my work and reputation speak for itself.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Capturing Memories & Creating Treasures Inspiration/History/Purpose
Crystal Reminders:
2010-2011 were years of both gain and loss. My father and my daughter gained their wings; I lost a mentor and a best friend. While I could celebrate their homecoming with Jesus, I needed something in the middle of that loss. I needed to hold onto something tangible in my grief. Their deaths were the birthplace of Crystal Reminders.
Crystal Reminders is a way to celebrate hope. When we look back at our lives, we all have important memories. Crystal Reminders is an intimate way we can breathe life into the past or mark a moment in time to commemorate for years to come. These products aren’t just t-shirts or ornaments; they are a celebration. I began these projects as a part of my grieving process, and I hope to encourage you in the midst of both sorrow and great joy. I am grateful to help capture your memories in meaningful ways. With Crystal Reminders I memorialize significant moments in life with products including:
Memories: T-shirt Blankets: Highschool, College, Sports, Firefighters, Police, Concerts, and MORE!
Remembrance Collection:
This collection is near and dear to my heart. When someone close to us leaves this earth, we are left with a hole that can’t be explained. I am passionate about praying for you as I create your treasure. My work space is in my daughter’s room which makes it very therapeutic for me. I miss being able to talk to her, to hold her, and to laugh and cry with her. I understand your loss. This collection includes items made from your loved ones’ clothes and ornaments that can be displayed throughout the year. My own ornament hangs from my rear-view mirror.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Determination – organization- good communication
I believe the most important factor in starting your own business is doing something that you love and comes natural to you. I did not start this venture with the intent of it being a business. It grew out of a love for others and a way to help others along the way.
I believe it is important to be organized and have good communication. I let my business grow organically for 3 years while continuing to work full- time. Once I dedicated myself to working out of my home full-time; I took being an entrepreneur serious by managing my schedule and dedicating time for communication, production and marketing on Social Media
Word of mouth and quality work has been the foundation so now after 7 years my project board stays full with little effort. I truly believe you have to put in the time and energy to see good results.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
As entrepreneurs I believe we can be so focused on revenue that we forget why we started our business. I remind myself often that balance is the key. I am not a prisoner to customer needs or timeline. It is important for me to have a flexible schedule that allows me to enjoy many facets of life. It took me a couple of years to realize this.
