Meet Pink Palace

We were lucky to catch up with Pink Palace recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Pink , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
We cultivated our confidence and self-esteem through continuous experimentation with our music. Embracing authenticity, we found strength in sharing the raw and genuine aspects of our personal lives through our lyrics, even when it felt intimidating. Stepping out of our comfort zone, we ventured into different genres, starting with lofi pop and expanding into the realms of pop, singer-songwriter, and alternative pop/rock. This commitment to honesty and artistic evolution has not only shaped our sound but has also served as a powerful catalyst for personal growth.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Pink Palace, born out of our shared love for music, serves as an outlet for our emotions and a platform to explore our identities. Drawing inspiration from the apartment complex in the movie ‘Coraline,’ our music embodies a dark, dreamy, and introspective quality. As we navigate through diverse stylistic interests and perspectives, we invite you to join us on this musical journey, where each note and lyric carries the essence of our collective passion and creativity.

One of our notable releases is the acoustic version of ‘One Year Ago Today,’ a song born from the shared sense of stress and discomfort we experience when confronted with the curated memories on social media. The verses capture simple snapshots of the past, focusing on the peace and ease felt at those moments, while the refrain reacts with melancholy, sadness, and even bitterness upon seeing our past selves.

We released this song alongside our friend Kuba from the YouTube channel ‘Moved Minds’ approached us to create a score for his photography compilation. The emotional resonance of our song paired seamlessly with Kuba’s visual storytelling. Currently, we are working on a more polished version set to release later in 2024, alongside other singles that delve deeper into an indie pop/rock sound.

We also still have pink palace shirts and pins available on Bandcamp.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
In reflecting on our journey, three pivotal elements were working collaboratively with each other and our other creative friends, sharing half-finished work despite uncertainties, and embracing risk-taking. Our advice to those starting their journey: prioritize collaboration, trust your instincts for authentic and enjoyable work, and avoid perfectionism—it’s about the joy of creation, not just the pursuit of perfection.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
In the past 12 months, our most significant area of growth has been prioritizing and making time for music creation, despite challenges like distance or busy schedules. We’ve learned the value of finding even a few minutes each day to collaborate, whether physically together or by sharing ideas remotely. Consistently making room for creativity has proven both challenging and rewarding, reinforcing the importance of dedication and collaboration in our musical journey.
