Meet Poby

We recently connected with Poby and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Poby, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
Deep Love. When I create from my heart with love, happiness and joy, I am always optimistic. Even in extreme, or hard situations, it is the love the keeps me moving. The love for people, for art, for creating, for the little details and for life in general

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Poby is a German/American visual artist based in Los Angeles, CA. After his career as a pro athlete in Germany he studied graphics, design and art, combining theses two worlds to create is unique visual style.

Besides his successful career as a commercial photographer, poby indulges himself in his fine art. From painting large format portraits in oil on canvas to large format analog painting like landscape photography with multiple exposures. www.pobycollection.com

One of my current project is a combination of photography and painting in cooperation with Leica cameras. After finishing the black and white photography with a complete manual camera, I am now in the process of painting three large format oil paintings to compliments these photographs.

Another ongoing project is the creation of large format analog color slides with multiple exposures to create painting like looking landscape photographs. All done with a 4×5 1960 Linhof large format analog camera.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My main reason to create is always LOVE. Only when love comes from deep within in the process, you are able to create extraordinary art. Another important quality is OPTIMISM. It is important that you believe in your self and stay positive. The third is PERSISTENCE. This one is tough at times because you get rejected or smiled at and you have to work through this and believe in yourself to create with love. And last but not least: always reflect where you can improve the next time.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
Ideal clients for my commercial photography: Small new and growing brands. I create the whole visual branding from photography/video to webdesign and print brochures. I love to help businesses to grow by creating a perfect visual appearance for them. This is the most important in a world were all is online.

Ideal clients for my fine art:
private and corporate spaces ( hotels, spas, offices) who want to have unique large format art
on their walls to make a beautiful and timeless impression.
