We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Precious V Wright a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Precious V , so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My passion for hair developed at a very early age. I totally loved how you could change a look in one appointment that could change not just the look but the person’s overall mood. However, finding my purpose in it all came from my personal pain in my own personal life. I suffered some devastating life changes in my health, my relationship, and life as a whole. Then I begin to meet women that were experiencing similar situations in life as I rendered services to them. So then it hit me…. the purpose for my pain in life was to give me experience to uplift my clients as they battle the same issues and ensure them that with the help of God, a strong support team, and the attitude of overcoming it all they too could make it to better days.

My name is Precious V. Wright and I’m the Co-Owner and Operator of Dry Roots Hair Care LLC. I provide hair care services to women, men, and kids. I specialize in healthy hair and hair restoration. Hair Care is so much deeper to me then just styling your hair. It’s ministry to me because I believe in giving you an experience in which you are restored mind, body, and soul. It is my job that you walk out with a new look, a new mindset, and a new attitude. I focus on hair care tailored just for my client presently in my chair. My job is complete when you leave looking great and confident that you can take on the world with hope. Dry Roots Hair Care have started to offer events to the community to be uplifting and a light in this dark and cold world encouraging others to set the goals and continue to work at them until they reach them. We are in this world to be helpers one to another.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Hope, determination, and perseverance are three things that pushes me to achieve my goals. Life will always be full of obstacles but hope keeps you grounded to keep going. Hope in one’s heart wakes up determination that will give you the strength not to quit because the need to succeed deactivates the quit button in life. You may have moments of “I quit”. But again hope will wake up determination to help you persevere through the obstacles. Perseverance is just that extra push that tells you in spite of…. you must move past the circumstances. Failure is only possible if you quit. Other than that you just regroup, reroute, use obstacles as stepping stones, and try another approach. You are the only person that can limit your potential because if you believe it you most definitely can achieve it!
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I would love to partner with a Dermatologist, Nutritionist, Psychologist, and a Massage Therapist. As a Cosmetologist I encounter different people with different overall issues. Specializing in hair loss, sometimes when it’s a medical issue a Dermatologist expertise would be great to help those clients move forward in their healthy hair care journey. Sometimes our diets can cause issues with hair growth disruption and overall health issues. So being able to partner with a Nutritionist can help assist me with helping them choose better eating habits that can help them with overall health and wellness.
Stress of life gets to us all at some point but some people suffer hair loss because of it. Therefore partnering with a Psychologist could help these clients work through some emotional and mental issues that can help improve life overall, give them peace of mind, and feel just as amazing as they look.
And lastly a Massage Therapist because we all can benefit from relaxation. A Massage Therapist collaboration would be the icing on the cake!
