Meet Qua Thomas

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Qua Thomas . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Qua , we are so appreciative of you taking the time to open up about the extremely important, albeit personal, topic of mental health. Can you talk to us about your journey and how you were able to overcome the challenges related to mental issues? For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.
The best thing I’ve always did was distance myself from what caused me to have those issues mentally and learn myself more. It’s up to me to figure out what effects me and what I can learn from. I often enjoy the challenges that’s apart of the journey. I completely understand that I have full control of things in life but not all of them. I don’t spend my energy on anything that’s out of my reach of changing or making better. Even though you overcome something, I feel that longer down the road you may face something that those challenges in the past will benefit for you.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Going to college with musical friends expressed who I was in becoming an artist. It’s special to me because how natural it all came together. It was really within my lifestyle at the time and I rapped about it. I started to get more comfortable with my style and how I really wanted to present my sound and image. Once my understanding was there from that point, it was just all fun for me. I started to experiment more and try new things musically. With being around two other visionaries (Richie Volvo & Rxch Pabs) I kind of figured out how I can be different but still effective enough to mesh well with whatever was being created. I believe we began to push each other and challenge our different abilities. The respect for my art from my peers around me and party crowds throughout the years was the feedback that I usually thrived on. It was always step by step and as time passed I got more familiar with other outlets… Me Manque (my cologne brand) launched winter 2022. Now the label is VRNO. You’ll hear about it soon but something so powerful usually takes a little longer than what people want it to. Which in my opinion is the beauty of it because it’s worth it.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Definitely patience, gratitude, and confidence. All qualities was impactful in all areas of my journey. No matter how bad I seen things or was dealing with at times I always felt like it could get better. Nothing that I went through has made me give up or feel as if I was defeated. I strive to consistently show my thankfulness for whatever the situation is at hand. If you’re at the beginning of your journey you have to understand that not everyone gets to their destination at the same times. Yours could happen quicker or it can take even longer than the next person but as long as you don’t stop going. Learn to accept where you are while continuing to proceed.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
Being more well rounded helps you more in being a complete person. I know what areas I’m not strong in, but I spend most of my time and effort on that. My strengths will always be there, that’s something that can’t be taken away. It’s many characteristics that I’ve worked on and just now got better at. They weren’t always good and I’m still a working progress. I won’t ever say that I have it all figured out because I don’t. I learn new things in general and also about myself every day. Focusing on your strengths would be discrediting something you can improve in that you can even turn into a strength of its own.
