Meet Quentin Hill

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Quentin Hill. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Quentin , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
While my mind often feels left bias, I feel very fortunate to be surrounded by incredibly creative people.

One example would be our designer, Matthew, referred to in the fashion industry as “Throwback.” Matthew was Nelly’s personal designer throughout his rise to the top of worldwide charts. Customers often ask how it’s possible for a designer to work on stage looks for top hip hop artists, then seamlessly transition to luxury golf attire and leather accessories. While I hesitate to speak for him, I’d attribute it to his incredible attention to detail, subtle touches, and eagerness for customer feedback that set both his garments and leather pieces apart.

Another way I keep my creativity alive is by attempting to connect with individuals over a coffee or meal that I find to be inspiring. One example would be the Creative Director of Paradeux and Golden Voice, Deleram Pourabdi. I can truthfully say I’ve never met someone who sees the world of design in such a different, unique light – yet communicates it so well. Her design philosophy revolves around creating an experience in which individuals connect on a deeper level, something we’re actively working on at iliac Golf.

I feel that connecting with as many people as possible, listening intently, and having an open mind can drastically impact your career and create long lasting friendships and partnerships.

Thanks, so before we move on, maybe you can share a bit more about what makes the company special?
iliac Golf doesn’t sell a commodity. We sell tradition.

Over the last two decades, we’ve been fortunate to grace the shoulders and bags of major champions, celebrities, and hall of fame athletes. We’ve been the best kept secret for years in the world of golf.

Tiger Woods. Phil Mickelson. Hideki Matsuyama. Rory Mcllroy. Jordan Spieth. Adam Scott. Zach Johnson. Jimmy Walker. Clint Eastwood. Andy Garcia. Tony Hawk. Peyton Manning.

Those names all have one thing in common. They’ve chosen the iliac crest.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Passion: When work doesn’t feel like work, you know you’re passionate about what you are doing. My belief has always been that if I’m waking up before my alarm everyday exited to get to “work,” I’m spending my time on the right things.

2. Adaptability: Most individuals are risk adverse. Something that has stuck with me recently is that the biggest risk is staying stagnant. In a world that changes quickly, someone will take your marketshare if you’re not progressing forward.

3. Communication: The ability to communicate with team members and customers is an invaluable skill. It allows for customers to be heard, team members to feel understood, which leads to higher growth potential.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Our biggest area of growth in 2023 was domestic revenue. As interest rates rose affecting international distribution, we honed in on our United States business, leading to 71% growth in North America.

I’d attribute this level of growth to an excellent hire heading our domestic commercial operations, our design team staying laser focused, and new sewers and seamstresses who have really bought into the process and making the product as excellent as possible.

Our biggest improvement has been our internal infrastructure. We invested heavily, purchasing a new factory in San Diego, machinery, and a number of new technologies that will allow us to continue to scale with industry leading quality.
