We recently connected with Quentin Lewis and have shared our conversation below.
Quentin, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I keep my creativity alive by continuing to create. As I like to say “keep my pen polished”
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re arts on?
I’m an independent screenwriter/filmmaker. What I feel is special about the art is the ability to create, paint a picture and tell a story without limitations. It allows the artist/writer/creator a personal canvas to bring to life their thoughts and experiences. The writing process I feel is most satisfactory as everything is perfect as the creator sees it, nothing is missing and everything is on time. The film making process/ production can be all but, however both bring different experience to the art.
Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
I believe In doing both for a certain time span and the experience of doing many tasks in a particular field will allow better insight about the field as a whole. Through that participation one develops understanding of how it all ties in, how one aspect supports the other. With that being said knowing ones strongest attribute is king. That strength should be reinforced and honed as a decision to choose that one interest can be most beneficial.
