Meet Rachael Mueller

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rachael Mueller. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rachael below.

Hi Rachael, thank you for joining us today and sharing your experiences and acquired wisdom with us. Burnout is a huge topic these days and so we’d love to kick things off by discussing your thoughts on overcoming or avoiding burnout
I’ve been a business owner for over eight years now. At the beginning, I was wearing all the hats: admin, client management, you name it. I was waking up at 3am daily in a panic because I was constantly dropping balls. Burnout was knocking at my door.

Then, I had an ‘aha’ moment.

I realized this wasn’t sustainable and finally asked for help. Delegating tasks and bringing in the right tools to do some of the heavy lifting made a world of difference. The daily chaos eased up, and I could zoom out to see the bigger picture.

This change wasn’t just good for me; it was a game-changer for my clients too. And on top of that I reclaimed my own time freedom – time to kick back, breathe, and actually have a life outside of work and being a business owner. Learning to delegate and embracing some tech magic not only saved me from burnout, but also made my entrepreneurial journey WAY more enjoyable.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hey there, Rachael here! Virtual COO for service-based CEOs + founders.

Creative folks are brilliant at what they do…but perhaps not so great at managing all that other “stuff” that goes into running a business behind the scenes.

I love stepping in to help over-clocked business owners step out of the day to day, execute on their vision, take back control of their time, and officially banish the overwhelm for good.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Ask for help! This is the biggest most important one. While it’s totally normally to wear all the hats when you first get started, continuing down this path is only going to lead to overwhelm, exhaustion, and sub-par growth. You can’t do it all by yourself forever.

See your failures as learning experiences. This one can be hard, but when we remove our ego from the situation and really learn from an experience, we can see how to do better next time, come up with even better 2.0 ideas, and continue to grow and expand.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
This one has taken me years to work through (still trying), but taking a step back makes all the difference. When you have SO MUCH to do, it can feel incredibly counter intuitive to take a break, but, it’s actually the best way to clear your head and start fresh.

Also, make sure you are writing EVERYTHING down and getting it out of your head. Braindump every little things on your mind, and that alone can sometimes be enough to help calm your system and start tackling tasks.

After you braindump, look at that list and ask who you can delegate things to do. Household errands, chores, work, client management, there are ways to systematize and automate a LOT off your plate to make things so much more manageable.
