Meet Racquel Honoré

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Racquel Honoré a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Racquel, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
Funny. Sometimes I would ask myself this same question. I still do. My optimism is an integral part of who I am and who I came here to be. It sounds like a cliché, but I try to always look on the bright side and remain hopeful, even in the darkest or most challenging situations. I believe my optimism comes from an inner strength and faith.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My brand is called Ankh By Racquel. I curate collections of vintage attire as well as make my own unique jewelry designs. I love styling and shooting the collections and also coming up themes for the collections. For Summer, I did a collection of vintage swimwear and accessories celebrating the Divine Feminine, called Divina. I launched a new website this year Ankhbyracquel.com after selling on Etsy for many years. . Since last year, I sell my brand on Free People.com for their Virtual flea. It’s so nice to see large companies embrace sustainability in fashion, a cause near and dear to me. I also pop up at local LA markets like Melrose Trading Post. I’m always working on new collections and drops so it keeps things interesting! In addition to my company, I’m a poet and actress. I’m most excited about finding ways to incorporate all my creative avenues together and hope to do so in the near future.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The key to my ability to have longevity in my business has been to keep a balance of creative, business and social skills. I think balance is really important and also knowing your strengths and weaknesses. Work on improving them, or let someone else take over the task. Being honest with yourself about your skills is important. Making the investments, be in time or money, to upgrade is really a game changer. You can even learn a lot from social media or youtube these days. Lots of great resources are out there. Also, try different things if something isn’t quite working out like you anticipated rather than give up. Perseverance is an important part of the mindset.

How would you describe your ideal client?
My ideal client is someone who is excited to work together on a consistent basis and wants to access all my skills, from styling and consulting to design. This client doesn’t just see the value of my products, but the service I can provide. I believe style and self expression are important parts of our culture, our humanity and can really enrich our lives if we allow them to.
