We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Raekwon Edwards. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Raekwon below.
Hi Raekwon, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from the people I have in my inner circle. From my closest friends that help me curve my creativity to my family members who have given me the openness to be who I want to be.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a musician and 9 to 5 worker who is trying to take Kansas City’s music scene to the next level. I have been Promoting my own shows and doing music in Kansas City for over the last 2 years. I have been balancing all of this while having a 9 to 5 job that requires me to travel out of state at least twice a month. The one thing about me is that I will always be at my events and I have yet to miss one. I am planning more shows in different states in 2024 so be om the look at for what my team and I have coming.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Some of the most important qualities to have as a promoter and artist is Appreciation, Awareness and Compassion. Appreciate the big and little things, if someone buys a ticket/merchandise at your show you make sure that they know that it means a lot to you, make sure they know that this is not just supporting you bit the whole city. Be aware of your crowd and the artist that you are working with, look at where your booking your shows to see what type of crowd you’ll have and if your card artist works with it, and make changes when necessary! Lastly show compassion to your crowd, venue and artist, you never know what that person is going through and how it will effect them on stage, in the crowd or wherever you are.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always looking to collaborate with artist, promoters and venues! Please reach out to me @realaseverofficial on Instagram or send me an email and we can work out a dope show or song!
