Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rahmad Hawkins. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Rahmad, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
Throughout my life, I learned to be comfortable with myself and be respectfully unapologetic about who I am. I naturally enjoy being around people and I have grown to become a strong and effective communicator which has helped.
One way to be effective is to be successful and the way you are successful is to be effective, I learned that being myself, using my creative attributes and an open mindset have helped me think of solutions in a non-conventional way which has been effective for me and has brought success. Throughout the process of creating success, it is key to build meaningful relationships and allow your personality to help you stand out from the crowd.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Qualities: Be the best listener | Be Curious to learn | Stay positive
Listening with the intent to understand and not to respond is key, staying curious to learn keeps you interested in and excited about what you’re doing and can spark a new idea or solution and by staying positive you can thrive.
These are the actions that have brought me success and have helped me create my own path.
Kick Butt | Stretch Yourself | Stand Out
Kick butt at what your position is, stretch yourself to assist with things outside of your normal job description/volunteer, and find a way to stand out to gain visibility.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Absolutely, as I mentioned I am in the process of authoring my first book so I would appreciate any support in getting the word out, connecting with seasoned editors, and promotional support, the goal is to reach as many readers as possible and impact their lives in a positive way with actions that they can use to create their own success.
