Meet Rakim Al-Jabbaar

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rakim Al-Jabbaar. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Rakim Al-Jabbaar, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from me growing up in an impoverished scenario. In our condition resilience is a necessity for survival. Most times we’re making miracles with scraps or literally snatching money out of thin air to pay for everyday needs. It’s embedded deep within my subconscious mind. Obstacles will always be present, I was blessed with the ability to overcome them. It’s not always easy but it must be done.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My current focus is building a platform that provides the youth with the knowledge they need to achieve self sustainability. Along with that we are providing a new business model for the dying record industry. Direct to consumer is the future.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The main thing is remaining committed to the end goal. We all have our ups and downs, trials and tribulations. More than often the ones who make it are the ones who don’t give up. Learn how to adjust, compromise and audible. Keep your eyes on the target and do the work

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was create me in a state of love and bless me with a powerful name. In ancient African culture they placed a heavy emphasis on the name of the child and believed it could form one’s destiny. I could not have asked for a better name.
