We recently connected with Rania Stone and have shared our conversation below.
Rania , appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
The key is to avoid compromising in easy situations. Step out of your comfort zone and dare to think outside the box. This means not following the crowd or adhering to others’ expectations. Challenge yourself to explore new perspectives, whether through travel, meeting diverse people, or diving into different genres of literature. Remember, creativity is a dynamic force; it flourishes when nurtured with curiosity. Allow yourself the freedom to make mistakes.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
As the Greece Coordinator at Imagine Greece Retreats, my role involves curating unforgettable experiences on the stunning island of Amorgos.
What’s truly thrilling about what we do at Imagine Greece Retreats is the unique blend of Greek hospitality with our passion for wellness, literature, and adventure. Whether it’s the Hiking Retreat, the captivating Reading Retreat featuring guest author Jennifer Hiller, the upcoming Writing Retreat with Jonas Saul and CC Humphreys, or the Screenplay Retreat with Kat Montagu and Rob Wenzek– each event is a tapestry of cultural immersion and personal growth.
Our commitment to building a community extends to the ‘Travel in Greece’ Facebook group, where enthusiasts connect, share, and catch a glimpse of the magic Amorgos and Greece have to offer. Exclusive discounts for participants ensure they have full access to the best experiences in terms of accommodation and dining.
And here’s an exciting addition: Imagine Greece Retreats goes beyond Amorgos; we extend our care to our guests in Athens as well. With meet-ups and guided tours, we make sure your journey begins with warmth and exploration in the vibrant heart of Greece’s capital.
Looking ahead, we’re eagerly anticipating our Yoga Retreat with Pam Rader in late March. We’re just a few participants away from making it an extraordinary experience. The scenic beauty of Amorgos, combined with the warmth of Greek culture, sets the stage for an unforgettable journey of self-discovery.
And, as a thriller author, I bring a unique perspective to our retreats, infusing elements of suspense and excitement into the overall experience. That’s why we’ve even booked a murder mystery event. Imagine Greece Retreats is your gateway to a one-of-a-kind and enriching experience. Stay tuned for more thrilling events and expansions as we continue to weave dreams and create lasting memories on this enchanting island.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the first quality that stands out in my journey is being a hard worker with a goal. My deep love for my island, where both my parents were born, has been the driving force. The desire to share the beauty of Amorgos with people worldwide while preserving its untouched charm and the roots of Greek hospitality fueled my dedication.
To improve in any aspect, self-awareness is key. Recognizing the areas that need refinement sets the foundation for growth. In my case, understanding the importance of showcasing Amorgos while maintaining its authenticity was a crucial realization.
Once self-awareness is in place, the next step is willpower. Having the determination to push through challenges and pursue the goal makes everything else fall into place effortlessly. It’s the commitment to the vision that propels the journey forward.
For those starting their journey, my advice is to embrace self-awareness and acknowledge areas for improvement. Channel that awareness into unwavering willpower, and you’ll find that the path becomes clearer.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me is woven into the essence of who I am. My mother, the epitome of Greek hospitality, is the traditional warm-hearted Greek yiayia. Her selfless nature, full of love, and the way she embraces everyone who comes for a visit left an indelible mark on me. The most impactful thing she did was simply being my example – teaching me the beauty of caring for others and creating a welcoming space.
On the other hand, my father was a poet, philosopher, and truth seeker throughout his life. Our conversations were always deep and meaningful. His relentless pursuit of knowledge and wisdom served as a constant inspiration, shaping me into the person I am today.
In essence, the impactful legacy my parents left goes beyond any specific action; it’s about the values they embodied. My mother instilled in me the art of genuine hospitality and selflessness, while my father fueled my intellectual curiosity and love for profound conversations. Their influence resonates in every aspect of my life and the way I approach both personal and professional endeavors
