Meet Rashard Reddick

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rashard Reddick . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Rashard, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience came from my mother. She was a single parent and a hard worker and always made sure we had everything. My mom battled pneumonia for some years, which led her to undergo two lung transplants. Watching her overcome that did a lot for me. My mother was one of the strongest women that I have ever known.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My name is Rashard Reddick & I am 32 years old. Born and raised here in Jacksonville Florida. I have a small business (soon to be big business) called Winn pies. In this business, I specialize in sweet potato pies & pastries. I started my business just a little over 3 years ago. After my mother passed in 2017, This was one way I felt that I could continue her legacy. This was a family recipe passed down from my late grandmother to my mom and now me. I really have a passion for what I do & satisfying my customers also brings me so much joy.

The name Winn came from a nickname that one of my brothers always called me, so I took it and ran with it. Many people around town know me by that name because of my business.
I graduated college in 2015 with an Associate of Arts degree, and again in the spring of 2019 with my bachelors of science in human services. My end goal some day is to become a clinical psychologist. I’ve always had the passion of helping people since I was a little boy. Being one of the main caretakers for my grandparents and my mom when they were sick led me in this direction. I am truly grateful for where I started and where things are currently headed.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Confidence, adaptability, Leadership and organization are qualities and skills that were and still are the most impactful in my journey leading me to where I am now. Believing in what you do and knowing that you can do it is what I always tell others. All in a nutshell, just basically having the right mindset and never giving up. This has always carried me through not only business but just life in general.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

Showing me how to Maneuver through life and just being a strong man all around. I am truly grateful for my parents and miss them dearly. I go so hard in my business and work in general because I know they are extremely proud of me.  Not only my parents, but my siblings have also been very impactful as well in my life and within my business. My parents and siblings have all had a significant influence on my development and I could never thank them enough for that.
