Meet RAYA DIZE

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful RAYA DIZE a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

RAYA, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
In moments of criticism, I approach with empathy and understanding, recognizing that individuals often reflect their own inner struggles. When faced with destructive comments, I perceive it as a person addressing their internal issues, expressing a desire for personal growth. Responding to negativity with love is the best remedy.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a singer-songwriter. I stand as a pioneer in the realm of conscious Hip-Pop music—a genre that fuses the rhythmic essence of pop with the profound depth of hip-hop, cinematic elements , delivering deep, meaningful messages.

This genre reflects who I am, blending my classical piano background with my journey as a hip-hop dancer who’s overcome various life hurdles, regardless of my age.
I do my best to keep it real and authentic in my lyrics, sharing my own journey – the ups and downs, the travels, dealing with bullies, facing rejection, and a whole lot more. My main goal is to connect with my audience and let them know they’re not alone in their struggles and bring people together.

As of right now, I’m working on a new album, called “Q&A with God”. The album holds profound significance and is incredibly intimate.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1.Believing in yourself is crucial; it’s a way of showing respect to our creator. Staying true to yourself is paramount, especially when faced with shortcuts and the temptations of fame and wealth.

2.Kindness serves as a language we all understand, irrespective of the words we speak. 3.And as for authenticity? Well, without it, there’s simply no true us.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When things seem overwhelming and solutions are elusive, I remind myself that every challenge is a lesson meant for a reason, and I’m capable of handling it all. I firmly believe that everything unfolds for a greater good, even when can’t see a bigger picture.
