Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Raymilly. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Raymilly, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
Creativity comes from within. However the outside world can influence how you create. I keep my creativity alive by living. Just live your life, you literally won’t have to force the creative thoughts. When you speak about your life and your own personal experiences it can do so much for you and help you grow!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
These days I’m focused on building my sound musically. It’s been plenty times I’ve moved forward and had to take some steps back to move forward again. Nothing makes you stand out more than having your own sound. I believe music is what touches everyone around you and your sound can make people want to listen to you. I don’t know about you, but when my ears are exposed to something new, something fresh I get excited!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities/skills I find important to my journey are definitely determination, discipline, and my wordplay.
To anyone who’s early in their journey, you’ll need determination to not quit and know that you will succeed. You can determine how far your success goes. Discipline will help you maintain that determination for a prolonged period. Lastly, I’d say find your niche! Everyone is different. No story is the same. Find out how to express your side of life.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
Building a team is my number one challenge right now. As an artist the team around you can either heighten your success or kill it. It’s very important to find people who are just as passionate about their craft as you are about yours, if not even more. Work ethics have to match or you’ll be pulling most of the weight. I’ve always told myself I can do it alone but there are only 24 hours in a day. I can get much more done with the right set of people around me.
