Hi Rebecca, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Life is full of surprises! Many twists and turns led me to discover my purpose.
I became a property and casualty underwriter after graduating from college. I was very successful, but there was a great divide between my head and my heart. So, I went seeking. I went back to school for a graduate degree in Mental Health, because I wanted to help people. However, along the way, I tried hypnotherapy at the recommendation of my Professor. I released a childhood trauma that had been unconsciously affecting my own wellbeing and felt liberated in only one session. It was such a powerful experience that I knew that hypnotherapy was my path forward.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you? I would love to tell you a little bit about myself, and the work I do. I am a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist in Maitland, Florida. I offer virtual and in person sessions. I use many powerful tools to help my clients create positive change including Regression, Breathwork, Parts Therapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Eye Movement Therapy, Meditation, and Sound Healing. I am constantly educating myself on ways to help my clients live a balanced, happy, healthy life.
The most amazing part of what I do is that every day, I have the honor to help people on their journey as they move forward achieving personal and professional goals, releasing negative behaviors, or patterns, feeling more comfort in their mind and body, and finding their own sense of purpose. I get to witness meaningful transformations that help them thrive. Each session is tailored to the client’s needs at that moment, so methods and tools vary to tap into all aspects of healing. I am passionate about my work and feel so grateful to be able to do it.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
There is a quote by John Lennon that I think sums it up well, “There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create….”
I found these words to be true for me and true for my clients as well. Loving all the glory and imperfection does not come naturally, or easily for most people. Truly loving yourself includes self-acceptance and self-forgiveness, and it is often harder to forgive yourself than those who have caused you pain. We often don’t even realize that we are holding unforgiveness for ourselves over things that happened in the past because we get good at compartmentalizing, but all the ways in which we unconsciously self-sabotage tell a different story.
Hypnotherapy has been such a powerful tool to help me love, accept, and forgive myself. It helped me find the inspiration and courage to help others and create a life I love.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies? The first thing I do when I feel overwhelmed is take 3 long, deep breaths. I tune into myself and refocus my attention on what I can do right now, in this moment, the rest of the things that need to be done go on a list. Then, I create a strategy to complete them.
I remind myself to just say no. It can sometimes be hard to say no, because of the fear of missing out or wanting to make people happy, but drawing boundaries is healthy, and it helps manage others’ expectations.
I take breaks for self-care throughout my day. I have great neuro-linguistic programming tools that are quick and effective method to feel reenergized and refocused.
I make sure I keep up with exercise as it is a powerful stress reducer, and necessary for health and wellbeing. I like brisk walks, yoga, and silly dance breaks to get my blood pumping.
It’s important to ask for help when needed, so I’ll ask a friend, or delegate the task to someone with the skills to complete it. However, if I’m feeling stuck, I
will use self-hypnosis, or see one of my hypnotherapy cohorts to release the blocks and gain clarity.
Hypnotherapy gets me out of my analytical mind, a beta brain wave, and into a relaxed state of mind, alpha, or theta, a deeply relaxed state, often called twilight because it’s that dreamy state just before sleep. In the alpha and theta states, the mind has a greater ability to find creative solutions, it provides the energy and confidence I need to feel reinspired to my purpose and mission. Everyone can benefit from hypnotherapy. I recommend it anytime you want to make positive and powerful changes in your life and align with your purpose.
Hypnotherapy has helped me shift negative emotions and attain a level of peace and wellness I never thought possible, so when I share my tools with clients, it comes from a place of both personal and professional experience. My path has led me to so much growth and healing. I feel blessed to be able to share it with others.
