Meet Regena Andrea Grundy

We were lucky to catch up with Regena Andrea Grundy recently and have shared our conversation below.

Regena Andrea, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
How do I keep my creativity alive comes from the bible verse Genesis 1:1. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Two keys words: GOD CREATED! The Lord lives in me and that’s how I keep it alive! We are naturally born to create and God gave us all the gift of creativity; if it’s a skill or having a family. When doubt and unbelief start to rise I douse my fire but God always keeps that little flame burning; signaling that I’m not finished and then He directs me to a new path.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can a bit more about yourself?
I’m originally from Seattle,WA and I live in Los Angeles,CA. I’ve always been a person who marches to the beat of my own drum. My mother always kept me active in performing arts because it’s in my DNA! Acting, dancing not so much singing although, I have tried. I graduated from Hollywood High School of performing arts where I did theatre. I was a dancer in “West Side Story” and “Cabaret”. My senior year is where I truly believed that I was ready to become an actor. I was cast in a lead role for the play “For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Sucide When The Rainbow Is Enuf.” I was “Lady In Blue.” That’s when it became real. When I was a child I just wanted to be on tv but once I matured and really understood the craft of acting is when it became more serious for me.

I studied theatre arts at AMDA NYC. I was a contestant in the Mrs.& Miss. Black California pagent where I won the Miss Congeniality award. I also won a Covergirl contest called “Clean for Clean” where the grand prize winner goes to Africa to present clean water to the rural areas. However, the trip didn’t happend so with the prize money I went back to school and graduated from The Academy of Radio and Television Broadcasting in Huntington Beach, CA. I created my own talk show for a short while called “Regina Knows!” I’ve done alot of TV and film work behind the scenes; in fact I’m a stand-in for the show called “The Lincoln Lawyer” which is on Netflix but I haven’t landed an actual role. So, I started doing short films on my moms iphone; producing and editing. I have three of them; “In My Front Yard,” “STORIES” and “Heel Love.” All of them were selected at the Short Showcase Film Festival in which STORIES and Heel Love won. I also produced a mother/daughter ministry program briefly on The Cross TV called “Pearls In The Morning.”

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three most important qualities I believe are most impactful on my journey would be presistance, patience and wisdom.
What advice I would have to give is to be persistent in whatever your heart is leading you to do. Even if it looks like nothing is happening. I always say if your heart isn’t in it your going to give up! Also, don’t be afraid to go a diffrent route; like my mom says there’s more than one way to get home!
Your definitely going to need patience because you have to grow. When you plant a seed it’s not going to grow overnight; we all know that but yet we want it right away.
When you let the Lord use you and ask God for wisdom to be able to handle situations; then it becomes more clear on how to address things. You’ll remember on how you would’ve delt with somethings years ago as suppose to now when you have developed and matured. Wisdom comes from age, listening to your parents and your intuition. It all goes together. I’m going to always be a working progress because you learn something new everyday and everyday you’re evolving.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
What has been my biggest area of growth in the past 12 months is my relationship with Jesus Christ. My spiritual growth has went up another level. I feel more alive and awaken than I’ve ever been before because I’m in tune with the spirit of the living God; letting Him take the lead in my life.
