Remi, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
As a salon owner and entrepreneur, overcoming imposter syndrome has been a journey of self-discovery and resilience. Initially, I grappled with feelings of inadequacy and self-doubt, questioning whether I truly had what it takes to succeed in the competitive beauty industry. However, I realized that these doubts were merely obstacles holding me back from reaching my full potential. To overcome imposter syndrome, I took proactive steps to boost my confidence and self-belief. Firstly, I surrounded myself with a supportive network of mentors, peers, and fellow entrepreneurs who encouraged and uplifted me during moments of doubt. Their guidance and perspective helped me recognize my strengths and achievements, validating my worth as a salon owner and entrepreneur.Additionally, I embraced the realization that I have something valuable to offer – a unique perspective, knowledge, and a desirable skill set. I had to learn not to minimize my talents and abilities, but rather to celebrate them and recognize the value they bring to my salon and the beauty industry as a whole.Furthermore, I practiced self-care and mindfulness techniques to cultivate a positive mindset and combat negative self-talk. By prioritizing my well-being and acknowledging my accomplishments, no matter how small, I gradually silenced the voice of imposter syndrome and replaced it with one of self-assurance and empowerment.Ultimately, overcoming imposter syndrome required a shift in perspective and a commitment to self-compassion and personal development. By acknowledging my worth, embracing vulnerability, and staying true to my passion and vision, I’ve been able to overcome imposter syndrome and thrive as a salon owner and entrepreneur.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Absolutely. I am Remicha Carter, the proud owner of Remi’s Salon, though most people know me as Remi. My journey as an entrepreneur has been deeply rooted in a personal story of resilience and passion for the beauty industry. After experiencing a challenging period in my life, I discovered an unexpected opportunity when I stumbled upon a salon location while searching for housing stability for myself and my daughter. This serendipitous encounter ignited a dormant passion within me, leading to the birth of Remi’s Salon.
Remi’s Salon is more than just a place of beauty; it’s a haven where individuals can rediscover their confidence and embrace their unique beauty. Our commitment to providing exceptional service and fostering a sense of community has been the cornerstone of our success.
Recently, we’ve expanded our offerings to include a new headspa and hair loss treatment service. This addition aligns perfectly with our mission to address the diverse needs of our clients and provide comprehensive solutions for their hair and scalp concerns. Our headspa treatments offer a luxurious and rejuvenating experience, while our hair loss treatment services utilize cutting-edge techniques to promote hair regrowth and scalp health.
As an entrepreneur, my vision extends beyond just running a successful salon; it’s about making a positive impact on the lives of our clients and the community at large. I’m excited about the future of Remi’s Salon and the opportunity to continue growing and innovating in the beauty industry.
In essence, Remi’s Salon represents not only my entrepreneurial journey but also a commitment to empowering others to look and feel their best. With our expanded services and dedication to excellence, we’re poised to redefine the standard of beauty and wellness in our community.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, I believe three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge have been particularly impactful: resilience, adaptability, and a growth mindset. These qualities have enabled me to navigate challenges, pivot when necessary, and continually strive for improvement. For those early in their journey, my advice is to cultivate resilience by embracing failures as learning opportunities and persevering in the face of setbacks. Develop adaptability by staying open to new ideas, embracing change, and being willing to adjust course as needed. Cultivate a growth mindset by seeking out opportunities for personal and professional development, being open to feedback, and viewing challenges as opportunities for growth.Additionally, surround yourself with a supportive network of mentors, peers, and colleagues who can offer guidance, support, and encouragement along the way. Remember that success is not linear and that setbacks are a natural part of the journey. Stay focused on your goals, believe in yourself, and keep pushing forward, knowing that each step you take brings you closer to realizing your dreams.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
One book that has deeply impacted me is Eckhart Tolle’s “A New Earth.” In it, Tolle shares valuable insights that have helped me grow personally and professionally. Here are a few key lessons I’ve taken from the book: Being Present: Tolle teaches the importance of living in the moment, free from worries about the past or future. By staying present, we can enjoy life more fully and connect better with ourselves and others. Understanding the Ego: Tolle explains how our ego and negative thoughts can cause us pain. Learning to recognize and overcome these patterns helps us find inner peace. Awakening Consciousness: “A New Earth” encourages us to discover our true selves beyond our ego. By becoming more self-aware, we can live with more purpose and joy. Surrendering Control: Tolle suggests letting go of the need to control everything and instead embracing life as it comes. This attitude of surrender brings peace and resilience. Serving Others: Lastly, Tolle emphasizes the importance of helping others and making a positive impact on the world. By living with kindness and purpose, we can enrich our lives and those around us. Overall, “A New Earth” has inspired me to live with more awareness, peace, and compassion in my daily life.
