Meet Renee Warren

We recently connected with Renee Warren and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Renee, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Here are a few important ways I developed my confidence and self-esteem: – Constant personal development. I read books that I needed at that moment (not what was trendy) and applied the relevant methods. A few examples of the books that got me out of the wrong mindset and into confidence included The Big Leap By Gay Hendricks, The Artists Way By Julia Cameron, and Loving What Is by Byron Katie.
– I was unapologetic about what I wanted and needed.
– I asked for help.
– I put in the reps and stayed consistent about what I was working on or going for.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the founder of We Wild Women, a PR agency that works with creatives and female-led businesses on their way to their first $1M. Our approach to PR is different; we start with the goal in mind and work backward from there. There is no fluffy/bulky strategy, just to-the-point, action-focused work that gets clients results.

I created the programs and methods at We Wild Women after 12 years in the industry. Seeing what smaller businesses needed –access to an excellent PR team but not at the agency price, we crafted two unique programs:
1. Sidelines to Headlines: Your traditional PR retainer, but with added elements that help our clients get more reach faster.
2. The Authority Booster Intensive (PR VIP Day): This is a done-with-you PR program that gives our clients access to world-class strategic advice, coaching, and implementation to take our customized plan and integrate it into their marketing plan.

Beyond the agency, I also have a growing podcast called Into The Wild, the essential podcast for women entrepreneurs aiming for their first $1M year. It revolves around my framework called ‘The Authority Arc,’ focusing on three core pillars: Rare, Reputation, Reach. It’s not just about business growth; it’s about developing a unique presence and a stellar reputation and expanding your influence. Each episode guides listeners towards becoming an industry authority, featuring marketing, PR insights, and expert interviews. ‘Into the Wild’ provides innovative strategies for enhancing your business’s distinctiveness, reputation, and reach, empowering women entrepreneurs to confidently achieve their groundbreaking $1M goal.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities that helped me grow into the entrepreneur that I am today include:

1. A risk taker. I started a restaurant at 17 years old, never having had a job, let alone worked in the food industry. And the last PR agency I launched, having never pitched the media a day in my life. I just jumped in headfirst and built my parachute on the way down. I think most people stall in following their dreams because they are too afraid of failing –they want to have learned everything they possibly can before jumping in. I took the opposite approach, which got me to the finish line faster. Sometimes, not knowing how hard something is can be your only throughline to success.

2. A networker. Still, today, going to live events has been the most significant success accelerant. More importantly, getting
into rooms where I was one of the least experienced or least qualified turbo-charged my way to the next level.

3. A student. “Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it.” –Albert Einstein. And as I say ABC = Always Be Curious. This means looking at different ways of doing something, whether getting fit, growing your business, or finding more personal time in your calendar. Curiosity may have killed the cat, but it shouldn’t stop us from exploring and conquering our own mountains.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?
It’s important to appreciate your strengths and explore your weaknesses. Admittedly, I am not a fan of financial reporting and hate reviewing numbers, but it’s essential for a business owner to fully understand what’s happening in their business. After all, numbers are the pulse of the organization. Now, I don’t need to be the one balancing my books or pulling P&Ls, but I sure do need to know how to read them. My accountant and bookkeeper do that work. I “buy back my time” by outsourcing the tasks that I am not good at or despise to those who love them. That’s the beauty of being an entrepreneur; you get to choose who you work with, who works with you, and what tasks to focus on the most. You delegate the rest.

As Dan Martell says, “You can’t build a $1M business off $10 tasks.”

So don’t be shy to ask for help and delegate!
