Meet Rico Sanchez

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Rico Sanchez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Rico with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
“My work ethic is deeply rooted in my connection to creativity and aesthetic appreciation. I find immense inspiration in the world of art and music, which fuels my approach to work and life. This connection isn’t just about admiring art; it’s about absorbing the principles that make art so impactful—innovation, expression, and a relentless pursuit of beauty and meaning. When I immerse myself in art, whether it’s visual, musical, literary, or performative, I’m not just enjoying it. I am learning from it, letting it shape my way of thinking and working.

This artistic inspiration shapes my work ethic by encouraging me to approach tasks with creativity and an eye for detail. It’s not just about completing a job; it’s about infusing it with originality and making it resonate on a deeper level. Just as an artist pours their soul into their creation, I strive to bring that same level of passion and commitment to my work. The result is a work ethic that values not only the outcome but also the process of creating something truly meaningful and aesthetically pleasing.”

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey as a music curator and nightlife consultant, there are three key qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge that have been instrumental in shaping my path:

1. Musical Acumen: The ability to understand and appreciate a wide range of musical genres has been crucial. This not only involves keeping up with current trends but also having a deep appreciation for timeless classics and less mainstream genres. To develop this, I recommend immersing yourself in as much music as possible. Attend concerts, listen to different genres, and understand the history behind them. This broadens your musical palette and enables you to curate experiences that resonate with a diverse audience.

2. Understanding of the Nightlife and Entertainment Industry: This is a dynamic and ever-evolving field. It’s essential to understand not just the music, but also the business aspects, including event management, marketing, and audience engagement. Staying informed about the latest trends in nightlife, understanding the operational aspects of events, and learning about audience preferences are key. For those early in their journey, I suggest networking with industry professionals, attending seminars and workshops, and possibly finding a mentor within the industry.

3. Creativity and Innovation: In the world of music and nightlife, creativity is your greatest asset. It’s about creating unique experiences that captivate your audience. Developing this skill involves pushing boundaries and experimenting with new ideas. Don’t be afraid to try something unconventional. To foster creativity, I encourage you to collaborate with other creative minds, draw inspiration from various art forms, and continuously challenge your own ideas.

For those starting in this field, my advice is to be passionate, persistent, and open to learning. Build a strong foundation in music, understand the nuances of the nightlife industry, and never stop experimenting with new and innovative ideas. Remember, every experience you create is an opportunity to leave a lasting impact. Stay true to your unique vision and let your passion for music and entertainment guide you.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
From my perspective as a music curator and nightlife consultant who values humility and open-mindedness, my ideal client embodies these qualities deeply. I find that the most rewarding collaborations occur with clients who are not only passionate about their business but also willing to recognize areas where they can improve. These clients understand that success in the music and nightlife industry often requires a blend of creative vision and practical, proven methods.

An ideal client for me is someone who:

1. Displays Humility: They are willing to admit that they don’t have all the answers and are open to learning and growing. This humility makes them more receptive to feedback and new ideas, which is crucial in an industry that’s constantly evolving.

2. Is Open-Minded: They are eager to explore innovative concepts and not afraid to step outside their comfort zone. This openness is vital for creating unique and memorable experiences in the nightlife scene.

3. Values Collaboration: A client who sees our relationship as a partnership, where both parties contribute ideas and respect each other’s expertise, is essential. This collaborative approach leads to more effective and impactful outcomes.

4. Has a Growth Mindset: They should be driven by a desire to continuously improve and grow their business. This means being proactive in adopting proven methods and strategies that can elevate their brand and customer experience.

5. Keeps Ego in Check: It’s important that clients approach their business decisions without letting ego dominate. An ideal client understands that the best decisions are often made by considering various perspectives and focusing on what’s best for the business and its patrons.

For anyone looking to be an ideal client in this field, my advice is to approach your business with an open heart and mind. Be willing to listen, learn, and adapt. Embrace change as an opportunity for growth and view your consultants as allies in your journey towards success. Remember, the most successful relationships in this industry are built on mutual respect, collaboration, and a shared vision for excellence.
