Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Robyn Newmark. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Robyn, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to Imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Imposter syndrome is one of the things that I think people struggle with the most, including myself. Until I realized that it is the passing of information from one person to another that makes this world go around. We continue to build and innovate on the information that comes before us, making improvements along the way, and taking in new information. The truth is, we are all different, and we can never do anything exactly the same as another person even school teachers who are given the exact same curriculum to teach others, will do it better or differently I think the biggest part of overcoming the imposter syndrome is surrendering the idea that you were trying to take or be some thing versus be part of the flow of giving .
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’ve been fortunate enough to have a remarkable 20-year career in the beauty industry. I have always been an artist, and I have always left things more beautiful than I found them. When I started doing makeup at 16, it seemed like a natural profession over the decades. I have expanded my education from Permanent Makeup and Lashes to advanced skincare and entrepreneur-based coaching. My passion for seeing other people succeed at the heart of my brand; from the products that we choose to make and supply to the education we provide to professionals, it is important that all of our products are well-researched and top-of-the-line so that we may be a trusted source for beauty professionals worldwide. Our online Academy at newmarkbeauty.com educates and supplies to be professionals
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
There is no phase of a journey that doesn’t come with challenges . The key to staying encouraged no matter what you are trying to pursue comes down to a few simple things.
1. Believe in yourself: It is essential for small business owners to have confidence in their abilities and the value of their product or service. Without self-belief, it can be difficult to persuade others to invest in or support your business.
2. Adaptability: The ability to adapt to change is crucial for any small business. The market and consumer trends are constantly evolving, and businesses that can adapt and pivot quickly are more likely to succeed.
3. Networking: Building relationships and networking with other small business owners, industry leaders, and potential customers can open up new opportunities for growth and collaboration.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My clients are the driving force behind my motivation as a small business owner. Seeing their progress and success is what keeps me going. I am passionate about helping them achieve their goals and reach their full potential. This drive to assist my clients is what pushes me to continue my education and constantly strive for greater expertise in my craft. I believe that by continuously developing my skills and knowledge, I am better equipped to serve my clients and help them succeed. The satisfaction of seeing my clients thrive is what motivates me to keep pushing forward and constantly improve.
