We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rosie Ortiz. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rosie below.
Rosie, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I am a believer that many times pain is a bridge into purpose. This is how I found mine. Having had an abortion many years ago at 24 weeks of pregnancy, that I thought I would quickly forget about, taught me that our choices have consequences; many that we aren’t prepared to handle. I developed hypochondria as a result of the trauma connected to this abortion and struggled with that for about 5 years after. It was an all-consuming condition that affected my life and mental state and produced an immense amount of fear in me that kept me living a suppressed and poor quality life. After reaching what I would describe as rock-bottom, I did the only thing I knew to do which was to reach deep within myself and cry out to God for change. He heard my cry and little by little one thought at a time, I began the deep process of renewing my mind which in turn helped me to be released from the hypochondria that was dominating me. As a result, today I am a Women’s Empowerment Coach and Speaker and I help women everywhere who are stuck and not living a life of Passion & Purpose due to past mistakes, stumbling blocks, inner challenges or conflict to “rediscover the Wonder in their Woman” so that they can bridge the gap between their pain and purpose and begin living the life of passion and purpose they deserve to live. I do this through helping women understand the power of mindset and how we have the choice to either be the victim or victor of our own story.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My brand is called Wonder in your Woman Int’l. Motivation and Empowerment are my passion. My mission is to share proven methods that will empower women to live a life of passion and purpose not just despite their hardships and challenges but rather BECAUSE of them. I do this through speaking, coaching, trainings, and content creation. As part of my work to help women rediscover the Wonder in their Woman, my most recent initiative titled “Wonder in your Woman Wednesdays” highlights every day Sheros that are living a life of passion and purpose and doing it boldly and unapologetically. I continue to be inspired by the women I have the privilege of meeting on a daily basis, and their stories of struggle and triumph, and so I delight in creating a space where women can continue inspiring each other to be the Sheros of their own story.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three most important areas of knowledge for me were and still continue to be: 1. Owning every part of our story. The bad parts included. This means that instead of succumbing to shame, fear, or doubt we need to look back at the pain in our life and acknowledge it, whether it was something done to us or something we did, and then consider it part of our life resume. Freedom from past mistakes or inner conflict comes through Ownership. This is how we are able to bridge the gap between pain and purpose.
2. Mindset is key. Taking the time to intentionally weed out the thoughts that aren’t serving us and are contrary to the outcome we are hoping for is crucial. Then being intentional about replacing those thoughts with others that are building us into what we want to become. This is an ongoing journey and the first place we need to check when we aren’t seeing the results we want.
3. Action! Once we have the mindset to match the action, stepping out is the natural progression and where we begin to see the outcomes we want. If we don’t take action we will never get to where we want to go.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am always looking for ways to expand my reach and impact more women, and part of that is through collaborations. I partner with other women who are looking for a speaker for their event be it a conference, workshop, summit etc. I am also open to podcasts, blogs, interviews, and of course spotlighting women on Wonder in your Woman Wednesdays. I can be found on Facebook and Instagram through my handle @wonderinyourwoman as well as by submitting an inquiry via my website www.wonderinyourwoman.com or via email at [email protected]
