Meet Rozalyn Corona

We were lucky to catch up with Rozalyn Corona recently and have shared our conversation below.

Rozalyn, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Honestly, me. I have been told so many times in my life that I could or would not do something. Particular examples include:

Being told I would never graduate college. I found out I was pregnant within the first 2 weeks of me starting at Loyola Marymount University. And guess what, I did finish.
Losing my job and house because I was asked to have sex / sleep with a Senior Accounting Leader within a previous company and I would not! I did not and still have carried on. AND have a home again!

I also believe that the resilience that I have carried stems from being thick skinned and the capacity to withstand challenges, both self-inflicted and by others.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the founder of a Bad Ass united woman’s group called the Chingona Community. CC is a Woman’s Group is for those hard-working, Corporate females, Community activists, Women Leaders, anyone who has been assigned to a task that will not only help us empower one another but also help us grow as a female unit.

The CC was established in 2019 with a vision to connect and support women. The purpose of the CC is to come together on a regular basis to participate in professional development, workshops and seminars, networking and community volunteer work. The CC is dedicated to supporting, developing, and empowering women leaders in corporate, community, small business, and like-minded partners that believe, support and promote women. We today are an official 501(c)(3) focused and set out to continue with mentorship, inspiration, events and giving back.

We cannot achieve the above without support and funding from others. We are seeking partners to help us grow, host and sponsor our “Chingona Mindset” Program. A 3 Level Training Curriculum Program with the focus on 3 Bocks: What it means to be Chingona?, Finacial Literacy & Network Branding.

Our motto is UNITED, BOLD, BADASS

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Resourceful Real
Have a “Fierce” work ethic

I would say all 3 of the above have made me who I am today and have kept me going straight on a bumpy, and sometimes turbulent path.

Some advice I would share on how to best develop these qualities is all in the MINDSET. If you believe and can convince “YOU” to buy into putting in the hard work, utilizing all resources, never quitting and remaining dedicated, all while maintaining a fierce and consistent work ethic, you have got what it takes, you have got a PURPOSE. It truly is in the mindset you give off, follow and you will succeed.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I am overwhelmed, I today stop and indulge in self-care WHENEVER necessary. If I need or want to get my nails, eyelashes or gym time in at an “off hour” or during the weekday, I do so. I am seeing more and more that NO ONE takes enough time to work on themselves. It is so needed, or we cannot function for ourselves, our families, our work, our mental positive mindset that is truly just so precious.

I also make sure to get in bed early and out starting my day with exercise. This truly helps me set my mind right before I even get to “overwhelming” stage. Again, is a “mindset”, one we choose. We choose to rest our bodies and mind when need to calm our storms.

It has taken me so long to figure out a balance…a secret sauce to the MADNESS of an Entrepreneur, Daughter, Aunt, Nina, Mother, Wife, Launder, Taxi Driver, Employee, Gym and WINE enthusiast, lol…a CHINGONA.

What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?

We asked folks a question that led to many surprising answers – some sad, some

When do you feel most at peace?

In a culture that often celebrates hustle and noise, peace can feel rare. Yet, peace

What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?

Over the past decade, we have been profoundly impacted by the wisdom of the community.
