We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sandra a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sandra , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I truly get my work ethic from my mom. She was a true hard-worker, she never gave up on herself nor her dreams. Even when things don’t seem to be working out well, she always seem to figure it out with ease. She never took anything personal and she stayed on course.
That was very inspiring and I modeled myself after that, but of course I added more of my own touches.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Well I am a Public Relations Specialist or short for Publicist at Just1PR,LLC , which I founded.
Just1PR,LLC is a Full-service public relations agency all the way to events production.
One of the most exciting thing about this is the people you get to meet, the many client you get to work with, just the overall experience.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I would say it’s a mixture of quality, skills and knowledge. The main three mixture for me is 1- consistency,2-being persistence 3-Knowing you are your only competition has really helped me develop a strong midframe and work ethic that aligns with my goals.
My advice is Stay on course and don’t get distracted by your competitors.
Also never compare yourself to anyone, you are your only competition.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Feeling overwhelmed will happen no matter what. Usually when I get overwhelmed, that’s my que to step back and take a well needed break.
What helps me the most is actually taking a walk and doing something else, this helps clear my mind and thoughts of any clogging. Plus it helps you reset and slightly recharge.
My advise with anyone feeling overwhelmed would be to take a step back to reset your thoughts. Don’t try to force it because that’s when the errors start, because when you’re overwhelmed you don’t truly think clearly as you normally would.
