Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Saphfire Marie. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Saphfire Marie, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
For years, I drifted through life without any real sense of purpose or direction. I tried different jobs and hobbies, but nothing ever felt quite right or fulfilling. That all changed when I discovered my passion for fitness and helping others transform their lives.
It started with my own fitness journey. After struggling with my weight and self-confidence for too long, I decided to make a change. I started working out regularly and eating a healthier diet. As time passed, I not only looked better physically, but I felt better mentally and emotionally too. Exercise became my therapy, my outlet, my way to de-stress and recharge.
As my friends and family noticed my transformation, they began asking me for advice and guidance on their own fitness goals. I was more than happy to share what I had learned. Seeing them get results and gain confidence was incredibly rewarding for me. That’s when the lightbulb went off – this was my calling.
I dove headfirst into studying to become a certified personal trainer. The more I learned about exercise science, nutrition, and behavior change, the more I knew I had found my true purpose. Fitness was no longer just a personal hobby, but a way for me to empower others and help them become the best versions of themselves.
Now as a personal trainer, I get to combine my love for fitness with my desire to motivate and inspire people every single day. Whether it’s a client struggling to lose those last 10 pounds or someone looking to gain muscle and strength, I’m there to guide them, push them, and celebrate their victories with them. There’s no greater feeling than seeing the joy and pride on someone’s face when they achieve a goal they once thought was impossible.
My own fitness transformation gave me newfound confidence, discipline, and purpose. By becoming a trainer, I get to pass that gift on to others. This isn’t just a job for me, it’s a calling – my way of helping people rewrite their stories and become heroes in their own lives. I’ve finally found my “why” and there’s no better feeling than that.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’ve been working as a personal trainer for the past five years, and the most fulfilling aspect of my job is having the ability to transform the lives of my clients. I have established a brand that emphasizes the overall wellness of women, rather than just their physical appearance. Through my training programs, I help my clients build strength, endurance, and stamina, while also guiding them towards a healthier lifestyle.
In addition to personal training, I also offer a meal prep service to support both clients and non-clients with their nutritional needs. Recently, I have opened my own gym in Brooklyn, NY, where I conduct private training sessions throughout the week and will be hosting classes on weekends starting this summer.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The driving force behind my success as a personal trainer has been an unwavering passion for fitness and a genuine desire to help others transform their lives. This passion fueled my motivation to continuously learn, experiment with new training methods, and tailor programs to meet each client’s unique needs. Without this deep-rooted enthusiasm, it would have been nearly impossible to overcome the inevitable challenges and setbacks along the way.
Personal training is not just about designing effective workout routines; it’s about understanding each client’s mindset, goals, and limitations. Empathy allowed me to connect with clients on a deeper level, build trust, and create a supportive environment where they felt comfortable pushing themselves. Effective communication skills were also crucial for explaining exercises, providing constructive feedback, and motivating clients to stay committed.
The fitness industry is constantly evolving, with new research, techniques, and trends emerging regularly. To remain relevant and effective, I had to embrace a growth mindset and continuously expand my knowledge through certifications, workshops, and self-study. Additionally, adaptability was key to adjusting programs based on clients’ progress, injuries, or changing circumstances.
Passion, empathy, communication, continuous learning, and adaptability were the driving forces behind my success as a personal trainer. By cultivating these qualities and skills, aspiring trainers can create a rewarding career that positively impacts the lives of their clients.
For who are early in their journey, I say to pursue a career that aligns with your genuine interests and values. When you’re passionate about what you do, the hard work feels rewarding, and you’ll find the resilience to persevere through tough times.
Develop your emotional intelligence and communication abilities. Learn to actively listen, ask thoughtful questions, and tailor your approach to each individual’s needs and personality.
Never stop learning and growing. Seek out educational opportunities, stay up-to-date with industry developments, and be willing to adapt your methods as needed. Complacency can quickly lead to stagnation and obsolescence.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
As a fitness professional, striking the right balance between maintaining an active social media presence and providing high-quality in-person training sessions can be a daunting challenge. In today’s digital age, social media has become an indispensable tool for building a brand, connecting with potential clients, and showcasing expertise. However, the demands of creating consistent, engaging content can often clash with the physical demands of training clients face-to-face.
The number one challenge I currently face is finding the time and energy to consistently produce high-quality social media content while also dedicating myself fully to my clients during their training sessions. Social media requires a constant stream of fresh, relevant content to keep followers engaged and attract new clients. This can involve creating workout videos, sharing fitness tips, and documenting personal fitness journeys. However, this content creation process can be time-consuming and mentally draining, leaving me with less energy and focus for my in-person training sessions.
To overcome this challenge, I have implemented several strategies to streamline my workflow and maximize efficiency:
1. Batch Content Creation: Instead of trying to create content on a daily basis, I dedicate specific blocks of time to batch-create content. This allows me to focus solely on content creation without the distractions of training sessions or other tasks.
2. Repurposing Content: I have learned to repurpose existing content across multiple platforms. For example, a workout video created for Instagram can be edited and shared on YouTube, and snippets from that video can be used for Instagram Reels or TikTok.
3. Prioritizing In-Person Interactions: While social media is important, I make it a priority to be fully present and engaged during my in-person training sessions. I set boundaries and avoid checking social media or responding to messages during these sessions, ensuring that my clients receive my undivided attention.
Striking the perfect balance between social media and in-person training is an ongoing challenge, but by implementing these strategies, I am better able to manage my time and energy effectively. Ultimately, my goal is to provide exceptional service to my clients while maintaining a strong online presence that attracts new opportunities and helps me grow my business.
