We were lucky to catch up with Sara Quiriconi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sara, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
When you know your WHY in life, it’s a challenging thing to wake up in the morning and not want to give it your all to make it happen. Perhaps, however, it’s part genetic and the environment you grew up in and part lifestyle and mindset. I can owe a large part of my resilience to the life circumstances I’ve been challenged with and have overcome, such as being a 20-year cancer thriver. That taught me so much in life about living your best each day, never settling and seeing the lessons in every obstacle to built you up stronger and wiser.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a New England born actress, writer, producer, host and entrepreneur with a deep passion for storytelling. Having been in the creative industry for over 16 years, I’ve had the opportunity to act, write and produce content around the world.
I thrive in portraying characters who are confident, strong, beautiful and intelligent with an inner conflict of lightness and darkness. As someone with experience in many creative angles in addition to acting, bringing to set skills in writing, directing, pre- and post-production, along with a calm, confident and profession demeanor. The youthful soul of a storyteller is something I played vivaciously as a child and have now dedicated my life to as an adult.
In addition to acting, creative production and hosting, I’m a mental health advocate, 20-year cancer survivor, an author, speaker, and wellness and tourism leader. Incredibly athletic, having taught yoga for nine years and have worked as an art director in various agencies along my career path. I’m currently based in Los Angeles, and am the founder of the production company Live Free Media with an expertise in creating conscious-driven media.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Curiosity. Communication. Determination. I’ve always asked a lot of “why” questions keeping me in a constant state of curiosity. Communicating clearly and openly helped open others in conversations and to express vulnerability, guiding the other communicator towards an answer that was impactful. Determination kept me on the path and journey focused, even when the road became muddied. To develop and improve these, listen to others who are successful at this and learn from example. Drop the ego, be open to learn and always keep learning and you’ll thrive in your path in life.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Streamlining the focus on projects and honing in on my projected future goals. In the past, I had gone in a variety of directions looking to utilize all my skillsets. Over the past 12 months, I’ve gotten much clearer on what I want to be taking on as an actor, TV host, writer and producer, organizing how I’m going to get there and taking on stronger teams and collaborators to efficiently execute the process.
