Meet Sara Sasic

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sara Sasic a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Sara, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I keep my creativity alive by always challenging myself with new design projects. But also appreciating everything I have accomplished along the way. It is essential to keep thinking outside of the box and evolving even if you think you reached all your goals. There are always more goals to reach and more great opportunities for those goals to come alive. Believing in and being passionate about my new ideas keeps my creativity flowing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I studied industrial design as an undergrad minoring in fashion with a focus on exploring contemporary materials and designing furniture. That made me want to learn more about interiors. Thus, I am currently pursuing an Interior Design Master of Fine Arts at Savannah College of Arts & Design in Atlanta. Right now, I am most passionate about my social media interior design content and two projects I am working on. First is my pillow and wallpaper collection based on my skeleton and flower drawings and a video podcast I am about to launch soon.

The pillow and wallpaper collection is my interpretation of the Renaissance which is one of my favorite styles when it comes to art, design, and fashion.
The podcast I am launching next month will be a debatable dialog with other artists and designers on redefining the term luxury through interior design and by observing the world around us.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
As an interior and industrial designer, mastering software skills is inevitable. However, I believe my personal most important qualities are believing in myself, doing what I am passionate about, and being consistent about it. It is crucial to keep being yourself and never blend in as an artist and designer. There will always be times when you are told your art is too eccentric or too opulent or even the way you dress. But always remember the people whose careers you look up to and whether they would ever change to blend in.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I look forward to partnering with brands that produce textiles for my pillow and wallpaper collection. In addition to that, I look forward to meeting more people with whom I can have a meaningful conversation for my video podcast about redefining the term luxury in the modern age through art and interior design.
