We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarah Terrill. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarah below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Sarah with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
Growing up, the foundation of resilience and work ethic was instilled in me through the constant encouragement to never give up and follow my passion. This invaluable lesson carried me through adulthood, shaping my journey into becoming a professional artist. The unwavering belief that hard work pays off became evident in my experiences.
Reflecting on my childhood, the embodiment of perseverance and dedication was not confined to a specific person or place but resonated through the influential women in my life. My mother and grandmother and the strong women in my family were beacons of hard work and determination. They consistently demonstrated the importance of pushing through challenges, providing a constant source of motivation.
My mom’s work ethic was a driving force that instilled in me the value of persistent effort, a lesson I carry with me. Their collective influence has fueled my journey, reminding me to persevere through both triumphs and tribulations. This powerful motivation, rooted in the example set by these remarkable women, propels me forward, encouraging me to keep pushing through every aspect of life.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
As a professional artist for over 15 years, I specialize in both residential and commercial art, including custom orders. What sets my art apart is that it’s entirely original, stemming from my personal visions that come to life on canvas. Each day brings a different process, version, and experience, making art a constant journey of exploration.
Beyond creating art, I find immense joy in curating projects, especially for the aspiring young generation of artists. Drawing from my own journey starting out, I understand the importance of mentorship. It’s become my mission to guide and mentor talented emerging artists, sharing the knowledge I gained from exceptional mentors in my early days.
Looking ahead, I’m excited about curating art projects and programs. Currently, I’m collaborating on a special art class for Black History Month with the community. If anyone has ideas or wants to collaborate, feel free to reach out.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I possess three key qualities: visionary thinking, a strong work ethic rooted in discipline and persistence, and a grateful acknowledgment of my creative abilities.
For those early in their journey, my advice is simple yet impactful: Discover your passion and love for all aspects of creativity. Seek out a mentor who can guide and direct you, providing valuable insights.
Get involved in local communities and participate in shows related to your passion. Embrace the learning process, continuously refine your craft, and don’t hesitate to immerse yourself in the journey of self-discovery and growth.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
To ensure precision in my collaborations, I’ve set my sights on specific areas within the commercial realm. Imagine my vibrant creations in large buildings managed by property management companies that appreciate bold colors and distinctive aesthetics. By honing in on these specific targets, I’m not just creating art; I’m shaping environments and experiences.
I looking at partnerships with property developers, realtors and key players in real estate. One day it would also be great to see my art on movie sets and theatre stages too.
This journey involves a strategic approach—connecting with individuals and organizations whose vision aligns with the transformative impact of art in commercial spaces. It’s about crafting meaningful partnerships that resonate with a shared commitment to innovation and aesthetic excellence. Let’s redefine the narrative of art in commercial spaces, one specific collaboration at a time.
