Meet Sarahndipity Johnsen, M.Ed.

We recently connected with Sarahndipity Johnsen, M.Ed. and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarahndipity, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
In the past, I prioritized helping others more than I took time for myself. After a prolonged state of depression stemming from a car accident, I realized that I had to create a supportive self-care routine. I carved out time for a daily meditation practice, attended inspirational courses, and committed to nature walks every day. These tools not only made a vast and lasting difference in my personal life, they created new avenues for me to share these ideas with others.

I enjoyed the Insight Timer meditation app so much, I became one of their teachers. I love connecting with hundreds of students and sharing guided meditations, positive affirmations, mental health tools, inspirational talks, and music from my album.

As part of my self-care journey I took (and continue to attend) classes on trauma resolution, somatic mediation, Yoga Nidra, and ancestral healing. I weave these jewels of wisdom into my teachings, and have become a trained facilitator in some of these modalities.

Taking time to appreciate nature daily continues to strengthen my self-care routine. This time outside allows me to slow my breathing, quiet my monkey-mind, and honor the beautiful animals, plants, and Earth. Plus, my dog absolutely loves it!

I wouldn’t be the balanced, effective, and happy woman I am today without my continued commitment to my own self-care. I even created an online course called The Self-Care REVOLUTION to encourage, and support, other people caring for themselves.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am fortunate to be a true renaissance woman. As the founder and CEO of Serendipitous Entertainment, I am a producer, director, and writer of the “Enchanted Planet” TV series, author of seven books, music producer and artist, educator, actor, and host.

I recently became a facilitator of The Empowered Heart. The Empowered Heart is a methodology, book, and online community that helps assist people through the process of identifying, and healing, emotional pain and discomfort residing from unresolved trauma. I’ll be presenting this methodology at the Grand Valley Yoga Festival in June, and through my online courses and podcast.

I am also embarking on another new voyage as co-host of The Empowered Heart Podcast with Darian Wułf-Killian and Katie Gray, my dear friend who wrote the book and crafts a loving container for people to heal without judgment or shame. I love hosting podcasts and interviewing people, so this new adventure lights me up.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Creativity, compassion, and resilience are my super powers! Creativity allows fluidity, spontaneity, and synchronicity to lead the way. Compassion brings humanity to the table. We are not alone, and the more we can think of others, serve the greater good, and honor our differences the better the entirety of our work becomes. Lastly, I suggest others strengthen their resiliency by seeing the gifts in seemingly hard situations. Some of my best work has birthed from my hardships and “shadows”. There are often hidden talents and skills that blossom as we work on ourselves and serve others. Be bold enough to be authentically YOU!

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
As I previously mentioned my friend, Katie Gray, wrote an incredible book that changed my life called “Journey of the Empowered Heart: A Pathway through Suffering and into Compassion, Confidence and Healing”. This book allowed me to take a deep look at the ways I was holding myself back and avoiding past traumas. Through reading her book and going through the book course, I let go of harmful addictions, faced my past “demons”, and learned to fully own my power from a confident, authentic, and loving place.

“So often, we think of power and strength coming from dollars and fists— it’s not true. Genuine empowerment comes from our ability to understand ourselves and remain present and grounded through the experience of life— no matter how painful and challenging it may be. By gaining a strong and secure tether to the force of light and presence within us, we awaken true self-awareness, unconditional love and— an Empowered Heart.” – Katie Gray.
