Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sarieha Alsawaf. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Sarieha, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Being born in the Middle East and moving to the US at a young age, came many struggles. Yes my family brought us to America for a better life and that I am grateful for. However, in the 80’s, not many understood the Arab world and some had a negative outlook on us. Also, my parents were more strict because of fear that something bad would happen to us in this new country.
So growing up as the oldest of 5 children and being the only girl was definitely a hard path that now I cherish. At the time, I was the black sheep of the family and very misunderstood. I had to develop a safety mechanism and learning to depend on myself. I was definitely fearless and rebellious.
I went through so many traumatic events such physical, mental and emotional abuse at home. Being attacked because of my race and religion, involved in toxic relationships, drug abuse, depression & anxiety, being disowned from family and the list goes on and on. Before I was never vulnerable enough to share my story yet now I consider myself evolved and forever in the state of growing. I now see vulnerability as courage where in the past I saw it as weakness. I also played the victim unconsciously and never held myself accountable for certain things that manifested in my life. I had so much sister wounds from women throughout my life so I just stayed away from them. I only kept a few near to my heart.
So you ask me where I get my resilience from? I get it from all the things I went through in my past. Yes! All the dark & light, the ugly and beauty of it all, to not ignore my beautiful shadow that I have always wanted to hide or ignore! I have taken everything in my past and molded it into a piece of art. They have shaped me into always believing in myself, to go after my dreams and goals, to trust god, the universe and the process, to have faith, to be ok with making mistakes and learn from them, to accept change and to get out of my comfort zone!
In my present, I use this time to continue to learn and grow into my highest self so that I can better serve others. Always full of consistent gratitude for all things big and small. I pray, I attend many spiritual ceremonies, surround myself with others who vibrate on the same frequency as I, involve myself in courses to continue educating myself, travel the world to delve deep into other cultures and religions, volunteer my time & energy to things that matter to me, self care and just love on myself as I should!
Never give up on yourself and understand that without the struggles, you cannot learn, grow and evolve in way that is transcending! Also, always believe in YOU and the greatness & uniqueness that you are! This is the greatest way to naturally build resilience! Sending everyone so much love for taking the time and energy to read my story!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hello beautiful souls! The services I would love to share with you is my Holographic Sound Healing!
In my past career, I was involved in the entertainment industry. Did a lot of professional singing, dancing, modeling and acting. However, through a series of what I thought was unfortunate events at that time, I took a step back from my passions.
I got into several other careers and ended up as a private flight attendant. It has been a great adventure and a blessing to do what I do. I just felt like I wasn’t living my life purpose. Through several plant medicine ceremonies, I received downloads from my spirit guides to step back into my passions, yet instead to use it to heal others!
I decided to enroll and get certified in several courses that involved learning how to use my voice as a healing tool and to learn how to play several instruments! I started to understand how music heals the body & soul! I have volunteered in several sound baths and now finally facilitating my own sound healing journeys as well as spiritual retreats! I have created my own unique flare which will include my Arab roots as well as traditional Native music.
My next sound healing journey will be in the deserts of Dubai end of January! My soul sister and I will be facilitating at a beautiful retreat for women. To come together and unite! To delve into out divine feminine and create a strong sisterhood full of love, healing and empowerment!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three of the most important qualities that have helped me on my journey is:
1 – Resilience! Having the will to keep going and believing in myself even when the odds seemed against me or that everything was crashing down on me! Don’t give up!!!
2 – Mediation, Prayer, Affirmations and Gratitude. If you don’t know how, I definitely suggest you research on what technique is best for you. It will change your life! You will manifest so much at an accelerated speed!
3 – Removing toxic people out of my life and replacing them with people who believe in me! People who are also wanting to better themselves and serve others. This is also a game changer!!! You are worthy of great people who respect you and want to support you in your growth. They are out there. You just need to remove the energy vampires and make room for Angels instead!
What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?
I believe in working on myself to be more well rounded and improving areas that I am not strong in is important! Educating yourself is only serving you in your highest good. You only gain more knowledge on things that can progress your strengths and create more versatility!
For example, I used to sing professionally. If I used all my strength in singing only, it can only take me so far. So instead, I started to take on several instruments one at a time taking several courses. I also hired coaches who educated me on how to create and run a business honestly.
All of these things supported my strength and pushed me into a better space! Having the versatility and the knowledge and understanding of how to run my own business is a blessing!
