We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Savannah Rose Johnson, BA, CLC, RTT.P. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Savannah Rose below.

Savannah Rose, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?
It wasn’t until I was covered head to toe in stress-induced psoriasis welts and down close to 30 pounds that I realized the serious impact of burnout. It wasn’t a matter of feeling the stress anymore; I had numbed myself to stress by ignoring and thus normalizing my body’s cries for help. Work had become a coping skill for the stress of financial insecurity and therefore, working became my go-to solution to any uncomfortable feelings I experienced. But when is the work enough? And when is work not enough?

Our bodies talk to us: whether through lumps in our throats; heaviness, tightness, or aching in our chest; sour stomachs in knots; or holding our breath without even realizing it, our bodies communicate when it’s too much. It was excruciating experiencing the stress psoriasis; not just from the pain, but also feeling sad that I let myself become so ill due to burnout. I had put a checklist and other peoples’ needs above my own. I was grieving how I hadn’t shown myself the love, attention, grace, forgiveness, generosity, and all the other things I so easily show to others. Instead, work had become my solution and my punishment all wrapped up into one. Not feeling like I was doing enough made me feel like I, myself, wasn’t ever enough.

After making radical career transitions and overall uprooting my entire lifestyle, have I found myself recovering from burnout in a way that I realize is an ongoing process. I’m learning that there’s always more to learn, yet we don’t have to have it all figured out. Relaxation and recreation are just as important as productivity. Time for meals, rest, and the people (and animals) we love is what life is all about. Moving forward, listening to my body, and challenging any shame to do what I need to do for myself, is how I’m leading this new lifestyle of mine. For anyone reading this, please know that you deserve to listen to yourself and honor your needs. It will never fail you.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My life transformation has taken new meaning through my business, Eclipse Evolution, LLC. Given that I’m a wellness and spiritual practitioner, my brand represents my belief in the power of transformation and the delicacy of our humanity. Whether it’s through life coaching, hypnosis, public speaking, my books, tarot readings, astrology coaching, or even photography, I am grateful for creative freedom. Providing customized services with compassion for myself and others is extremely fulfilling.

I’m a firm believer in “practicing what you preach” so my decision to launch Eclipse Evolution is deeply rooted in accepting who I am and understanding the value I have. My newfound respect for my sensitivity, intuition, and empathy has helped me realize sharing my own vulnerability allows my others to feel comfortable and safe when working with me. I’m excited to share my new podcast with the community I’m building, as well as my app I am developing. It’s only up from here!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Anyone who has been in my office has seen three words I have painted on canvases: Honesty, compassion, acceptance.

These are my core values and my decision-making “filters”. I encourage all my clients and have even given seminars on the importance of identifying our core values. Core values empower you to have standards on who and what you allow to be a part of your life. Once identified, filtering decisions about people, experiences, and our own actions through our core values, intentionally aligns our lives with our best self. Honoring our core values enriches our relationships, friendships, and even careers because we are consciously engaging with life and how we want to live it.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client is someone who is curious. Self exploration can sometimes be scary, painful, or challenging; however, curiosity is the antidote to any of those hard, yet temporary, emotions. Curiosity also allows compassion to enter the equation: a must for any self reflection. I often see folks get down on themselves for what they have done or haven’t done. Encouraging curiosity allows for objectivity and new information to enter our process, therefore, allowing new solutions to also reveal themselves. Curiosity doesn’t have to kill any cats, but rather, it expands life and the meaning we create.
