Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Shakira with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I got my work ethic from my mom and myself I watch my mom work as an independent women. She showed me you can have anything you want in life you just have to work hard towards it. If you really want it you work hard towards it.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a entrepreneur, so in the daytime I do accounting in the evening time I run my Salon a cosmetologist, and then on the other half of my time when gigs are rolling in, I do modeling and work towards acting. would most exciting is that I never get bored that’s for sure but the great thing about it is having different streams of income really helps your development until you focus on your dreams you know I always dreamed of all three honestly of becoming a business owner and also becoming famous, so it takes a lot of hard, work and dedication, but it’s a lot of fun towards the journey. I am very creative so that’s where cosmetology make up come in very strict about beauty I’m acting in. modeling & acting always came along. I always had that vision of me being a star. and being accountant is always as fun on balancing numbers. I’ve also been running my salon since 2022. It’s going pretty well. I’m actually loving it and I’m hoping to expand more. It’s bigger cities and bigger states.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back my three quality skills areas of knowledge is well I went to college first to get my degree that’s how I got into accounting then I also went back and got my cosmetology license which is all I got into here and then after that, I applied to to see where that can take me and honestly I feel like my social media. My Instagram has grown so honestly every time when I got bored, I just kept going for my dream jobs just to see where they will take Me. My advice I would give to others is never give up always have different streams of income and until you can make it to your dream job.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I start to feel overwhelmed, I do a lot of traveling and self-care so when I’m overwhelmed with all of everything that’s coming in, I try to look at stuff that I enjoy to do for me and try to work more towards going like I’ll do a facial a book a flight, so that way I can know that my money that I’m working hard towards is going to something that I enjoy. During the journey, it can get very challenging and a lot of people don’t talk about the hard, but all I can say is hang in there and just keep trying and don’t give up.
