Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shakira Sergent. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Shakira , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience is defined as the capacity to withstand or to recover quickly from difficulties and/or toughness. In my opinion, resilience is something I think people are born with; genetic factors I feel play a key role. The awareness and strength to not succumb to any situation faced with in life. I can attribute my characteristics of resilience due to environmental situation as an adolescence as well. However, I am woman of virtue and I’ve always felt within my soul I had a destination of purpose. For me, in life that meant making a way out of what some would feel there is no way out! I am the youngest of 5 children and I’ve always felt I had to prove my ranking therefore, I’ve always displayed strength within everything I did. I did not desire to have the easy way out. I always challenged and desired to work for my gains. Meanwhile, I am also an empath; oddly meaning there is emotion mixed with my resilience which makes up a profound passion within me not only for myself but for others as well. Being a resilient soul is a never-ending evolution of ones self. I constantly desire to uncover the norms and discover new information within literature, mentorship, and experiences. A resilient person is usually a leader and being a good leader means you have a multitude of information, your grounded, and displaying emotional intelligence. In life, I feel we are co-creators to our desires so what better way to do it than with resilience?!
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I gained my start within the professional world through Healthcare management. While managing healthcare clinics I gained my real estate license. After, managing healthcare clinics and doing real estate for 5 years, I came across the opportunity to get into the restaurant industry. I have a restaurant named “Kyras” Lifes Too Short For Boring Food. The restaurant is fast food casual. Therefore, I decided to focus on the restaurant industry and real estate; gracefully leaving the Healthcare industry. I am the type of individual that aspires to broaden my horizons. Therefore, for me being in the restaurant industry means providing consulting to those interested in opening a restaurant of their own or franchising. Real Estate means building affordable housing and assisting sellers and/or buyers. If you’ve taken notice my whole profession has always been centered around helping and leading others to abundance. It is no secret that I will not explore other industries. I have my intentions rooted firmly in holistic health which will come to fruition over the summer of 2024. There are no limits and boundaries to the profession you desire and you have every right to change your trajectory with the alignment of your soul. I aspire to truly step into my authenticity and be a beacon of light to all with love!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Upon reviewing my journey I feel the best qualities and/or skills an individual should have is diligence, decision making skills, and empathy. An individual should always have an open-mind and will power to learn more beyond the surface. These qualities will provide the insight needed to keep striving for greatness. I would advise early entrepreneurs to read a lot! If you can not read a physical book listen to audio books on business, relationships, self improvement, etc. A person can re-invent the wheel if they desire, but you’ll need the help and knowledge of those who have come before you. Remember knowledge is power!
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
I would like to thank me, for helping me, get to where I wanted to be! (haha) Seriously, our creator puts a multitude of people on our paths in life to help us along the way. There are so many people who I can acknowledge however without the diligence and resilience within myself I would have not gotten where I am today. Confidence within yourself and trusting the process of success will never fell you. The power you hold within yourself is the ultimate light of being. Although, it is an immeasurable experience to be at the table of Millionaires or Billionaires you still have to do the work! There is no such thing as short cuts! There is a saying that you can “lead the horse to water but you can not make it drink”. Someone can suggest I do something or read a certain book but without my diligence to do it means nothing. I feel the most helpful things for me have been books, experience, mentorship, and comprehending the intentions set for yourself.
