Meet Shalini Breault

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shalini Breault. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Shalini, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
My life has led me in all sorts of directions that I had no intention or desire to enter but the tragic event on 9/11 in 2001 changed my heart forever. My heart, as I knew it, would never be the same! I heard a faint voice in my ear that said, “Get out now!” which saved my life from being under the debris from the falling towers. For months, I was thankful that I heard the voice and was safe. But then an unsettling feeling began to overtake me. I kept thinking over and over again and was being haunted by these questions: What if I didn’t hear the voice? Or what if I had heard the voice and ignored it? What would my family have to say to my three-year old girl who was waiting for me at home and needed me?
My body became a battlefield and was at war between my mind and my heart.
I went through a life crisis. Questioning and in deep reflection about every part of my life.
How do I want to show up in the world? Was I living my best life? Was I being the best version of me? Was I in the best environment for me and my daughter?
So much internal panic and struggle. The only thing I knew for sure was that I was divinely pushed out to safety.
Why me? The only answer I could come up with was because there was more for me to do in this life! But I had no clue what that was. I had a second chance to figure it out. I was committed to find the voice.
When you’re given a second chance at life, you take it with everything you have, even though it is messy and seems impossible. Three years later, I got divorced. Then two years after, I left Corporate America and New York and moved to South Jersey to be a full-time mom and find my purpose, my second chance.
Every year on 9/11, I replay the day on 2001 as if it’s happening all over again. I will forever remember that it took less than two minutes for me to act on the voice which made, in truth, the difference between life and death.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

3 Keys to Self-Mastery: Dedication, Commitment and Consistency

I am passionate about sharing my story for you to see it’s all possible for you too.

You are where you need to be right now. Meet yourself where you are. Be okay with where you are. Show up as you are.

You must be your own advocate and authority—writer of your own story. Be the writer of your own story or else you’ll be part of someone else’s.

What you do for work or what role you play in your world is not who you are!

Redefine what’s possible for you and your loved ones. You get to choose.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The gift of my ancestry and my warrior spirit.

I am a first-generation woman in my family to be raised in the United States of America. My parents came from India in the 1970s to pursue a dream not that many people had the privilege to pursue. Imagine a little girl being told she is a warrior. She comes from an ancestral lineage of warriors. The little girl was fiery and had strong feelings about how she viewed life and the world that was contrary to what she was being told and experiencing.

She didn’t feel as though she had the power or voice to express herself fully. There were rules, expectations, and obligations that needed to be followed. Warriors are leaders, the girl believed. How then is she being asked to be a follower? She didn’t feel like a warrior.

Confused, misaligned messages . . . she was lost.

My human and spiritual DNA, together, has allowed me to tap into my warrior spirit and strength to learn from life’s challenges, overcome obstacles and rise from the ashes.

My parents, knowingly or unknowingly, brought me into this world to be the bright shining light we wish to see in this world.
