Meet Shannon Mitchell

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shannon Mitchell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Shannon, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
When I am asked where I get my resilience from two of my anchor scriptures come to mind, Romans 8:28 “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” NIV, and Romans 8:31 ” What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” NIV. Whether the challenge was high school, college, my dad having cancer and surviving, my mom having cancer and passing away, leading a group of female authors to becoming amazon best-selling authors multiple times, or being a serial entrepreneur with multiple business partners, these scriptures help me remember to do my best and God will do the rest.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Welcome to a glimpse into my vibrant world of entrepreneurship, literary passion, and empowering my community’s intentional wellness. I am a serial entrepreneur, an Amazon best-selling author, and podcaster. With Women Connected in Wisdom, we go live every week Wednesday at 5PM EST and dive into the 8 Dimensions of Wellness. I am also the co-founder of Connected in Wisdom Press, a hybrid publishing company dedicated to guiding and supporting aspiring authors. My business partner and I have already had the privilege of coaching two inspiring author cohorts through this empowering journey over the past two years and look forward to doing it again this year! Diving into the beauty realm, I proudly introduce my all natural skin-care company, Shealo Glo, a haven for women with dry skin seeking to embrace their natural glo from head to toe. With a retail space nestled on Auburn Avenue, we’ve not only created hand-made products but a destination for self-care, confidence, and community, . Join us for our monthly Glo Club meet ups on the 3rd Saturday of every month from 1-4 PM EST!
In addition to my entrepreneurial ventures, I am an independent life and health insurance agent, ensuring individuals and their families are safeguarded and proactive in their well-being and financial stability. What makes me most excited about what I do is the healthy impact I have on those who do business with me. I am truly blessed to be able to say I make money by helping people reach big life goals and be better than they were before I met them.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Reflecting on my journey, three pillars that have profoundly impacted my success are honesty, continuous learning, and building genuine relationships. Honesty:
The foundation of my journey rests on honesty – with myself, my collaborators, and my audience. Embracing transparency and authenticity has built trust and credibility in all my ventures. For those starting out, my advice is to be honest. For example, you cannot receive the effective, specific help you need if you are not honest. When in life do we not need some type of help? Be authentic in your actions, acknowledge your strengths and weaknesses, and build a reputation rooted in integrity. Trust is a currency that will pay you dividends in the long run.
Continuous Learning:
The entrepreneurial landscape, like life, is ever evolving, and the willingness to learn continuously has been instrumental in my growth. Stay curious, seek out knowledge, and be open to new ways of doing things you think you already know how to do. Attend workshops, read topics you are weak in, and invest time in applying what you learn. Adaptability comes from a commitment to ongoing education.
Building Genuine Relationships:
Success in any field is a collaborative effort, and genuine relationships have been irreplaceable in my journey. Whether with clients, collaborators, or mentors, the authenticity of connections has opened doors and fostered mutual growth. Approach networking as an opportunity to connect authentically. Invest time in nurturing the relationships you would like to be long-term.

For those at the outset of their journey, my advice is to consider these qualities not only to contribute to personal growth but also to create a sustainable success. As I share in my chapter, Maximize Your Capacity of WCW Vol ll, the best way to get better is to do a SWOT Analysis and look at the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. This can be mentally or written out. If you didn’t do your best, then that’s the first problem. If you did your best and need to do better, then tap into the continuous learning and your genuine relationships for things that can help you develop that muscle. This will help you continue to put one foot in front of the other, and don’t forget to enjoy the journey!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
