We were lucky to catch up with Sharen Rooks recently and have shared our conversation below.

Sharen, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I found my purpose a long time ago when I was an educator. I quickly realized, building relationships was my lifeline for all things. I was intentional then and still to this day I am intentional about building solid relationships. None of us are designed to be an island, therefore we must learn or adapt to assimilation if we desire certain outcomes. I knew I was supposed to be an entrepreneur and I was to teach by demonstration how to conduct business properly in and across all spaces. Being able to flourish wherever you go is indeed a purpose that cannot be taught or learned. It’s a natural ability within the person’s DNA makeup. When I engage with people it doesn’t feel like work, the adrenaline and excitement of breakthroughs really keep me going.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I operate a PR & Marketing Firm full service, where we help others amplify their brand and correct their messaging if needed. We work with individuals who may be struggling in the entrepreneurship space for whatever reason. Power Media Solutions, is unique in so many ways, we can assist small the medium size companies, while yet providing mainstream services and products such as billboards, digital placement, radio spots, graphic design, website design, press releases, and many other benefits. We host an annual Tell It Now PR & Marketing Spring conference intensive where we award one entrepreneur $5000 worth of PR & Marketing services and business development. Jumpstart Your Business Network is another extension of Power Media Solutions where we meet monthly (FREE) and offer a membership platform for a nominal fee of $685.00/1 Year.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities that were most impactful #1-Respect #2-Teachable #3-Constistency

My advice would be to remain teachable, demonstrate mutual respect, and be consistent in your business efforts. I encourage entrepreneurs to be honest about their paths. A hobby is not a business, know and understand the difference. Be unique and not an imposter because it will damage your brand and credibility in the industry. To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did was to instill respect and a strong work ethic. We were taught to work with excellence in all areas of the school or the workplace. All of my siblings are entrepreneurs and everything we have touched has flourished. Having a servant’s heart was also an attribute that was/is still paramount in our lives. It’s important to me to serve in various capacities many in private and others in the public domain.
