Sharhonda, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethics came from my late grandmother. As as kid, she instilled in me to work hard, do my very best and be persistant to accomplish things in life. In other words, have a do it like you own it attitude regardless of how big or small the task is.

I am Sharhonda Beasley-Crosby, owner of Purpose Balms, LLC. Purpose Balms was inspired by my late grandmother’s generosity and her experience with breast cancer. In 2020, I witnessed the debilitating effects of cancer on her. It was heartbreaking to witness the pain she endured physically and mentally. Dry skin was my grandmother’s chief complaint during chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Due to harsh chemicals found in most lotions and moisturizers, selections were very slim for her.
Because of this, Purpose Balms skincare products are free from toxic ingredients unlike many lotions that often contains Oxybenzone, Parabens, Retinyl Palmitate and Synthetic Fragrances, often linked to cancer. I often think about my grandmother and the impact she had in my life and others. She was known for encouraging and helping others in their greatest time of need. My grandmother’s legacy lives on through me and Purpose Balms.
Our vision is to elevate our platform to educate and give back to the community. A portion of our proceeds are donated to local organizations that make a direct impact and are focused on the fight against Breast Cancer in underserved communities. Helping others is a good thing and the right thing to do.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, there were several qualities that aided me in launching my business. First, I give credit to my strong work ethics which helped me to stay persistent when I was tired and ready to give up. Secondly, being detailed orientated enabled me to build my website effectively. Third, my courage carried me through the ups and downs of starting my business. Basically, I kept pressing forward because I knew the real Purpose of my business which is to help others in their time of need.

Purpose Balms set aside a portion of their proceeds to assist individuals impacted by breast cancer. With that being said, we are looking to partner with organizations that make a direct impact and are focused on the fight against breast cancer in underserved communities.
