Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shea Lehnen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Shea , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Being nervous, scared, downright terrified and stepping forward anyhow. That’s what confidence is right? Doing something and learning to do it well. The more we can try new things and get good at them the more confidence we have. I will honestly try about anything, at least once. Will I look like a fool? You bet! Do I care? No! Developing my self esteem came easy, I had parents that built me up, told me I could conquer the world and I believed them. The confidence came later from gentle nudges and downright pushes from my husband, who has always claimed I am something special (awwwee) and he has encouraged me to chase, conquer and slay every dream I have.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I lead people and groups into more resilient and well versions of themselves. I teach people to look at themselves, their goals and use daily habits to get them snapped back into motivation and inspiration. Many people play so small with their lives, they get caught up on things that don’t matter and I forge through the field of doubt and push them toward their dreams. Along the way we often uncover past trauma, old patterns, stagnant lifestyle choices and lost dreams. I use the platform of basic Ayurveda to correct imbalances and my background in psychology to create lasting behavior change.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
A deep curiosity in people has always guided me. I watch groups interact, I watch people react and I love to pick people’s brains. I have always been mega interested in what makes people tick, what makes them contract, and how I can shine some light on them to expand. I have a natural gift of seeing the best qualities in people, the beauty and the gifts they have, I have developed this skill over the years to help others step into their own power. When I realized that my words often struck chords with people I shaped that into a tool that is useful for empowering those around me. I have studied years and years, obsessively some would say, yoga, psychology, wellness and parenting. When I began this journey I sharpened my natural skills by engaging in groups, retreats and anything I could that would push me to grow, make me uncomfortable and allow me to shine. Hold yourself to the fire to learn about what you are most interested in and your life will change.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
In the past year I have turned SO much chaos into order. I have taught yoga in the school district, revamped a local coffee shop/book store, invested in several projects for my businesses, remodeled 4 buildings, started a property business, opened a yoga studio and designed a 200 hour yoga teacher training course, among other things. I have learned to hyper focus and let 80% of what needs to let go, be gone. I have revised and let go of relationships, I have worked hard at not getting stuck in past identities and rebuilt myself continually. My largest area of growth in the past year has been to create boundaries with people or engagements that do not serve my highest good. Stepping away from identifying as a people pleaser and owning my own power.
